sasksheds
I got lucky this morning.I have a big hunt planned for Sat & I Thought that I would Give the land owner a call.I have had permission to hunt this land for the last 5 years. This morning he tells me that we cant hunt his land.I was devistated!Of course I asked why?He asked if I had been out there last week?I said no that I hadnt been.I guess some other "HUNTERS" had driven into the property which is posted & were getting organized to hunt it.When he aproached them & asked them if they had permision they lied & said yes.He asked from who? They didn't know but were waiting for another "guy" who did.He kicked them off & told them if they came back that he would charge them.By reading this have you figured out who the land owner figures the other "guy" that they were waiting for was?I swore up & down that it was not me & that I would never hunt there without calling him first. After alot of talking he agreed to let me back on with written permision for me,my dad,my brother & a buddie.Wow,i'm still a bit shook up over it.These guys who ever they were almost screwed me over. This is one of my prime honey holes for whitetail.I cant stand guys that dont have any ethics & dont follow the rules & screw it up for the rest of us that do.All it takes is one thing like that to tick a land owner off & thats it.No wonder everything is posted now a days! Swamphunter
Re: Lucky!!! I would DEFINITELY, gve this guys some venison as a thank you, and by all means, be the best hunter he has ever allowed on the property. I would try by picking up trash you may see lying around and carrying it out for him...you know, little things that he'd appreciate.

wtnhunt
Re: Lucky!!! Amazing how some idiots can try and tell someone they have permission from a landowner when they are speaking to that landowner and dont even know it. Think the way the law is here you have to have permission from the landowner for you. If a buddy tells you the landowner says it is ok, that is not good enough. buckee
Re: Lucky!!! Man, this really reminds me of what happened to me a couple years ago. It took me 10 years to get permission to hunt this guys land. It was the year I was off work with the bad back. He finally gave me exclusive permission and I got my neighbour to help me put up my stand. I only hunted the place twice all season and took a really nice 7 pointer out of there. I was going to go in after the season was over and get my stand out, when my back was feeling better. I went in there in January to remove my stand and found the tree it was in, laying across the road, with a chunk cut out of it where my stand used to be. I went to the neibours house to find out if they had seen anything, but they hadn't, so I went to the land-owner to see if he new anything about it, and tell him someone had cut down one of his trees. The land-owners son came along, saw him in my stand and asked him who he was. Upon telling him who he was, the land-owners son said he didn't have permission to hunt there, and my neibour told him that I said it was OK ...Lier. The land-owners son, chased him out, cut down the tree my stand was in and took my stand. Apparently sometime in early December, my neighbour decided to hunt my stand, without permission. He would never have gotten it either and he knew it, because I had told him how long it had taken me to get this spot. I tried my very best to convince that land-owner that I did "NOT" tell my neighbour he could hunt there and would not, and I "COULD NOT" give someone permission to hunt someone elses land. I also tried to tell him, that I didn't spend 10 years trying to get permission to hunt there, just to do something stupid like that and ruin it for myself. He didn't believe me and didn't even want to discuss it with me...I was ticked, he was ticked (and rightly so) and I lost a dandy hunting spot, because of my neighbour's stupidity. Never got my stand back either. You got off lucky...that's for darn sure. I'm happy for you.
sureshot
Re: Lucky!!! I hear ya big time, This happens here all the time , 3 years ago during mule deer season i worked my butt off to get permission startign in july, I had all the land plus extras and once the seaosn started it was raining and muddy, idiots were driving the hilltops,I went or phoned each rancher and told them I did not drive at all on there land and walked in from the maib road and explained that I did not want to be blamed for the wrecked pasture,Guess what alot of the land I was the only one who had permission!! it just sickens me when crap like this happens, it puts a bad name on the rest of us thta actually work to get permission!! archerjg
Re: Lucky!!! You are very lucky that those other people did not screw up your chance of hunting the land. If they do come back I hope that he prosecutes them. Archerjg
