rockefeller66
I am a little biased but when I see all those deer racks on Ebay all I can think of is that the majority of them are poached deer. We just had 9 deer poached off and around our land this year by some boys from NC and they finally caught them. They said they had been doing this for years and selling them on Ebay. I was looking on Ebay tonight and there were some people on there with 20+ deer ranging from 120" 8 pts up to 230"+ bucks!!!! I couldn't see how these people got all these bucks and why they would sell them!Huh?! The majority of the bucks had fresh skull plates on them with the fur and hair on their heads!Huh!?! This seems fishy to me, does anyone on hear agree with me or maybe I am wrong, does anyone on here sell deer racks on Ebay or anything like that? 6sixpoint_nobrows
Re: Selling deer racks on Ebay??? i have seen them before, and even considered buying one for rattling purposes ( i would never cut my antlers off my skull plate and use them) but i got the same idea you did, they have to be poached, im not saying all of them, but who in there right mind would want to sell a 230'' rack if it was a true and legal kill... wtnhunt
Re: Selling deer racks on Ebay??? Seems kind of strange to me too. If I kill them I am not selling them.
tedicast
Re: Selling deer racks on Ebay??? Griz..rack#2 that you linked to, are replicas. The first set that you linked to, wow. I would never be able to sell that if I harvested it, but some people don't feel the way I do about animal we take. Plus you have to look at the price, it is $810 and still going. Thats a lot of cash. I still wouldn't part with a rack like that, but for that kind of money some people wouldn't think twice.
snapper
Re: Selling deer racks on Ebay??? I wouldn't jump to conclusions. Just check out some boards from PA hunters...there are always hunters who say "they don't care about the size of the antlers" or "can't eat the horns". I personally wouldn't want to sell mine...but I think some folks don't really care. I'm also sure that the proper authorities watch these selling closely to try and catch poachers. rockefeller66
Re: Selling deer racks on Ebay??? I just thought it was funny when the same kid had like 20 pics of him holding different racks! Even to find that many road kills, shoot that many bucks legally is just unheard of!!!!!!! snapper
Re: Selling deer racks on Ebay??? True...but he also may have bought "X" number of racks at a sport show or something at a good price and decided to try and sell them seperately to make a buck? Swamphunter
Re: Selling deer racks on Ebay??? My wife likes to take sheds and stain them back to a rich color and make decorations out of something that normally would have never been celebrated. The things she makes are really nice and makes nice gifts for outdoors minded people.
RTF
Re: Selling deer racks on Ebay??? Most likely some are. But most are not. I buy and deal on ebay big time all to do with taxidermy. Most of the racks you see are not real and most others are off of deer farms. There are hundred of deer farms across the state that raise whitetails for their meat and racks. The racks you see on ebay are a dime a dozen and dont faze me a bit. I have been dealing in this market for years. I am glad to see it is being done and hope it continues. Furthermore most states have strict laws on shipping and receiving antlers and I hope the people all invovled know the laws. Antlers apply to most CWD restrictions that are placed on certian states. [/ QUOTE ] This is very true and there a few thousand antler trade and sell events held each year within the USA.
GWSmith
Re: Selling deer racks on Ebay??? If selling a rack I got legally to afford something my family needed I would not hesitate for one minute to make as much as possible to meet the need! If selling a rack meant that I could afford to hunt when otherwise I could not....it's SOLD!!! The Taxidermist that lives near me has a beautiful mount of a Bull Moose. It's antlers were bought from one source, it's cape was bought from another, and he has won alot of competitions with the quality of work he has done on it...without the chance to have bought these pieces to make his masterpiece it would have had an impact on his business. There will always be some people who are on the wrong side of the law....it will be everywhere including Ebay. It's simple....You dont have to buy from those people you dont trust. Guest Huntin_Cop
Re: Selling deer racks on Ebay??? Alot of the larger racks on ebay are repro's. But the ones that aren't, well, there's no way in ,you know where, I could sell one if I killed it. Course, there's plenty of folks who say, "ya can't eat the horns!".
