Re: Vane colors and Turkey\'

It may just be me but I use darker vanes and even use a black magic marker on my broadheads. Last year was my first time useing my bow for tommy and I have no blind. I was sitting on an edge of a field waiting for a tom to come around me to my decoys. Well he came 3yds to my left side spitting and drumming. When all of a sudden he took off, I hadn't moved a muscle including my eye balls. I got to looking at my setup and noticed my broadheads shined and my vanes were contrast with the cover I was in. Since then I darkened my stuff and haven't had a problem with close turkeys, I mean yds or less close. I also added a ghillie head cover and that helped also, at lest that's what I have noticed personally.

I take a turkeys wing feather and clip out 1/2 inch sections and then lightly spary paint my vanes with black paint. I mean lightly, it isn't solid color. My vanes are 1 flouresent green and two orange.
