Randyman
Read in the paper today that a guy in New Mexico caught a mouse and decided he was going to throw it in a pile of burning leaves out in his yard. Care to guess what happened next? The flaming mouse proceeded to run into the guy's house and catch it on fire! DOHHH!

But just because it's on the news doesn't mean it's true, the major news pipelines proved that last week with the West Va miners fiasco. Guest bronco_mudder
Re: Isn\'t it IRONIC! I think it was a cruel thing to do, throwing a live animal into the fire. If he had give it a quick death first, then he wouldn't be in this situation. High price to pay, yes, but maybe what goes around comes around. It was still a living animal, and none of us would be laughing if he threw a dog or cat into the fire.

Guest AllArmyoutdoorsSD
Re: Isn\'t it IRONIC! Listening to the radio today and evidently the guy who this happened to said that the mouse did not run into the house nor start the fire.... It was a dead mouse that he threw on the fire. Said that the wind most likely blew smoldering leaves against the place. My source is Rush Limbough nothing in black and white yet but I'll keep looking. clayman
Re: Isn\'t it IRONIC! Snopes has the story pretty well summarized. http://www.snopes.com/media/notnews/mousefire.asp The guy has changed his story enough times to discredit it entirely. DSGB
Re: Isn\'t it IRONIC! [ QUOTE ] Perhaps the original version was true but Mr. Mares, after being heavily criticized for throwing a living creature into a fire, chose to alter his story and claim the mouse was dead (thus making his initial story impossible), then decided the attention brought by the first version outweighed the criticism and switched back again. Or perhaps the first version was an invented one, and after being ridiculed over it Mr. Mares opted to tell the truth, then reverted to his fictional story because he liked the attention. Or maybe he doesn't even really know exactly what happened (i.e., the mouse ran out of the burning leaf pile and the house caught on fire, but the two events may not have been directly connected) and is improvising as he goes along. [/ QUOTE ] That's what I was thinking.
