While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA ) was perking,

he shaved with his electric razor ( MADE IN HONG KONG).

He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA! ),

his designer jeans ( MADE IN SINGAPORE ),

and tennis shoes ( MADE IN KOREA).

After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet

( MADE IN INDIA),

he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO )

to see how much he could spend today.

After setting his watch ( MADE IN TAIWAN) ,

to the radio (MADE IN INDIA ) ,

he got in his car ,( MADE IN GERMANY ),

and continued his search for a good paying

AMERICAN J O B.

At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day,

Joe decided to relax for a while.

He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL ),

poured himself a glass of wine ( MADE IN FRANCE ),

and turned on his TV ( MADE IN INDONESIA),

and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in

A ME R IC A .

Keep this circulating

Sad sstory indeed, however can anyone tell me the national unemployment rate? I would be willing to bet that is somewhere around 5% which all things concidered is quite low. i know that in the town I work in unemployment is 1.6 %. It has gotten to the point that one of our local grocery stores require a college degree in order to apply for supervisory positions regardless of how much time an employee has invested.

Re: E-mail about everyday life....

Any guesses what it is in some of the other countries tdhat are listed in the story above? I'm not attacking the thread, just saying that I don't blame exported or imported labor forces as much as I blame colleges. Our great nation has somehow taken the focus off of work ethic and placed more importance on a piece of paper saying you attended such and such university and paid a lot of money to do it, so naturaly you must be the best candidate for what ever job you are trying to get. Unless of course someone you are competing with has spent more money at a better known school.

Re: E-mail about everyday life....

I agree college is important, and knowledge is power, I am currently working on a wild life fisheries mgt degree that will be completely useless when I finaly finish. Because I refuse to pay more to go to a graduate school and deal with the better than you idiots who don't realy care about anything other than themselves, this is a generalization I know, However it seems that in life that bad always out ways the good nomatter the ratio.

Re: E-mail about everyday life....

The reason the unemployment is as high as it is (and I'm NOT saying it is "high"), is because people don't WANT to work!! People are too lazy!! They know the honest working citizen will pay for their next meal. I have 2 jobs right now...you should hear of all the other people that I know that have 2 and even 3 jobs!!! It's unreal!! Work is out there, if you're willing to go find it and keep the job down....

Also, can you blame people for wanting to pay LESS and get better workers?? I look at the Mexicans in the fields....hardest workers you'll ever see, but they are paid the least. Sure, farmers could pay Americans $10 and hour, but they won't get the quality of work 90% of the time....JMO.....

Re: E-mail about everyday life....

HSOG, sure you can work 2-3 jobs, but that in itself is the problem bud. This country is pinching us bad. Prices go up, credit card companies get away with murder, real estate goes up, corps. don't offer benefits, the medical industry charges huge amounts for medication....all while wages stay the same, or layoffs happen.

It's a downward spiral, and with production job opportunities leaving for the cheap labor of third world countries...quality of life goes way down.

When a person has to work two or three jobs to keep afloat, somethings wrong bud.

Re: E-mail about everyday life....

I am not that old, but I can remember a time that a persons work ethic was what counted. I was raised with the belief that a job worth doing was worth doing right. That is not the case in todays society, I even see it in the Army. It realy is too bad that huntin'sonovagun has to hold two jobs to make ends meet, didn't used to be like that.

I'm a full time student. I could take out a loan, but I choose to pay school off as I go...... smirk.gif

Good luck, Ryan. Had my first two years paid for but then I transferred to OSU. Worked 30 hours a week but still managed close to 10,000 in student loans. My rent ran me around 400 a month plus a vehicle payment. 30 hours just didn't cut it but it was all I could do and still manage school. Ended up taking 3 more years to get my finance degree.

Re: E-mail about everyday life....

I'm expecting to have some student loans, but so far my 1st 2 years are pretty much paid for...

Don't get me wrong about the job thing though...I didn't say anyone could find a GOOD job, but there are jobs out there, even if it's cleaning the restrooms at Wal-Mart....

One reason I feel it's important to get that expensive piece of paper. I don't think college is all it's talked up to be, but our society requires it nowadays. I'll tell you this though, I'm WORKING for my degree....not being lazy and having it handed to me.....Anything worthwhile in life will have to be worked for....
