Re: Screw in tree step question

you could go a step every 18 inches, that sounds pretty reasonable ... or even a step every foot, if you wanted to be safe

When we put up stands, we space the steps so when you have your foot on one step, the next step is at knee height.

Yeah. tongue.gif

the farther you space the steps the harder the climbing becomes, especially on the way down.

The knee height measurement works best for us.

Re: Screw in tree step question

Let me ask you this. Is $2.99 ea worth your life?

Use what's necessary to get the job done safely.

For 15 to 20 feet, I'd say at least 12 to 15 steps, remembering that you'll need 1 or two above your stand to grab onto as you swing yourself into your stand.

Don't skimp, be safe.

Re: Screw in tree step question

I use the knee height method also and it works well. I've been accused in the past by my dad and my wife that I space them too far apart so I've tried to put them closer together. It makes for much easier climbing in late season when you're all bundled up too.
