bigbearguy
Next week I am going to the Eastern Sport Show in Harrisburg. I am planning on going on an Elk hunt in 2007. This will be my first out of state hunt and I was wondering what are some questions I should be asking the outfitters at the show to ensure I get a quality hunt. Thanks. mule659
Re: Outfitter Questions Be sure you ask for a complete roster of all the hunters in camp from the past couple of seasons and not just the ones who bagged animals. Then start by getting in touch with as many of these people as possible. Ask them about the knowledge of the outfitter and his guides, about the lodging, food, number of hunters in camp, hunting pressure in the area, find out if it is public or private land, quality of animals and finally ask about the overall experience of the hunt. Make sure you get a total price from the outfitter including any trophy fees to avoid any hidden costs and find out the price for an out of state license. I'm sure there is a lot more you should ask but all of these just come quickly to me when wanting to find out about an outfitter.
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Outfitter Questions And if you've got any special needs (like bad knees, poor eye sight, shortness of breath, don't like heights, don't like horses, etc) make sure the outfitter can accomodate you.
