I have yet to hunt them with a bow but I do know that 30 yards and under are a good range for turkeys. The closer the better since the kill zone is relatively small.

SLOW draw is more important then how long you hold. How long you hold depends on how wel you can put your pin on him and make the shoot.

As for turkey hunting equipment.

Seriously, Do you need a vest or every call out there?

No.

That stuff will accumulate as you get into the sport more.

A good box call and a well placed pop up blind is a real good start on hunting turkeys with a bow.

first off your best bet is to get a pop up blind, those things are amazing for turkeys cause you can put them ANYWHERE and just keep it dark inside and those birds will never see ya! You can draw your bow whenever you want and put a jake decoy on top of a hen decoy like it is breeding (put it 10 yards infront of the blind) and you should be set as far as that goes.

Any deer hunting bow will work and arrows but as far as broadheads a big expandable is great, hit them in the chest at the wing but and you are good. You can shoot them as far as you feel comfortable and as far as your bow poundage will allow, those birds are tough and lots of feathers. Once you shoot one don't run after them like a shotgun, just let them go until they die, similar to a whitetail.
