Jeramie Posted February 21, 2006 Report Share Posted February 21, 2006 my heart just stopped..... Most everyone knows I got another job because of the attitude of my current employers. I start that job Monday... Anyway. The boss's wife does all of the accounting and such. She just paged me and asked if I wanted to pic up my check the first of next week of if I wanted her to mail it. I said I would just pic it up Monday or Tuesday and that would be the best for me. "Ok, sounds good. Oh and there should be another check in there for the Vacation accrued....." This is a HUGE shocker. I have two weeks vacation due and if they pay me 100% I should get an extra check for around $1400+!!!!!!! Even if they only give a little (say $100) im stunned. Ill gladly take whatever but whoa... Not long ago the company use to offer a "Cash out" vacation where you could take any number of hours in cash instead of time off. One employee cashed in his and then quit. He came to get his check on Friday and they refused to give it to him. He actually sued them and won hands down. Shortly there after they changed the handbook and had everyone sign a paper saying they wouldnt sue and that everyone understood you could no longer "Cash out." With the track history of this place I couldnt be more shocked if I layed a golden egg right now..... Btw, all the glory to him. This new job will crunch our money for a couple of months. I have heard of larger companies doing this when you leave, not sure how large the company is that you are leaving. When I left the Wal-Mart Distro Center I had almost two weeks of vacation accrued. I didn't know that they payed you for that when you left, which, it makes sense because you did earn it. Well, I ended up getting an extra check for over 800 Bucks. That was a very good day. I will get to play with some money (Probably to the tune of a .17hmr). I wish I could throw down that much fat back on a bow.
