But now that its a little over a week away?... I can't wait! I know its not quite opening day, but its enough to quench my baseball thirst. I guess its kind of like hog hunting in September. For example: Nomar playing for Mexico. I would love to to know the last time Nomar lived in Mexico? And Baby-Rod getting to choose from Dominican Rep., USA, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Siberia, Turkey. Just doesn't make sense. [/ QUOTE ] Mike Piazza playing for Italy is the biggest joke! I don't really like the whole deal. I think it's gonna be real dangerous for the MLB pitchers. It takes these guys all of Spring training to get their arms in game shape to get their breaking pitches to be effective. What happens when they just get thrown into the fire? I guarantee there will be at least 1 superstar that goes down for at least half the MLB season while playing in the WBC. When that happens you're gonna see GM's and owners around the league try to put a stop to their top dollar guys from playing in the future. Guys are pulling out left and right and I dont blame them one bit. They shouldnt be having something like this right at the start of spring training. The only players who have a real beef would be the pitchers, and they have pitch counts and are more closly monitor then a guy name Osama boarding a 747. I don't want to hear that "it's a long season"...big deal...these guys stand around more than anything, and on average get up to bat 4 times a game...oooohhhhhhh.... my message to these premadonnas......suck it up buttercups and get out there and play for YOUR flag....and by your flag I don't mean the country your great, great, great Aunt was born in. give me a guy who takes a slash to the face, gets up goes to his bench and gets sewn up so he can get out for his next shift....you guess it, I'm talking about a hockey player, you know the guys taking a beating representing their country in Torino right now.
