Afraid to mention hunting?

I was listening to a commerical on the radio today trying to offer home loans from a local bank. Part of the commercial was a guy whining saying he wanted to purchase the, log home in the country with the "fishing cabin", on it. It was said several times and it just struck me as they were anti's and just avoided using the word "hunting cabin". I have never in my life heard the phrase "fishing cabin". Maybe I am wrong...but I have heard the word "hunting cabin" thousands of times, especially in the area where I reside. confused.gif

Well, seems to me that if you are anti-hunting then you would be anti-fishing as well. I mean, hey----fish have feelings too right??? crazy.gifgrin.gif

I wouldn't read too much into that. Some people are just clueless about outdoor living and the proper "terminology" that goes with it. grin.gif

BTW....we have lots of fish-camps down here as well as hunt-camps. Just depends if one is located on the water or not. cool.gif

Re: Afraid to mention hunting?

Yeah, sounds like they are trying to be politically correct to please the anti's too, but failed in the attempt, because they are a bit ignorant to the fact that these anti-hunting organizations are against the eating of "ALL" flesh and animal by-products...period

So many companies are doing similar things with their advertising these days. I guess they figure they don't want to lose potential buyers based on the wording of their adds. crazy.gif

Re: Afraid to mention hunting?

I guess it all depends on the area. Some people, all they do is fish so it would be pointless to call the place they stay at when they are fishing a "hunting cabin" and vice versa. Maybe they are trying to be PC, maybe not, maybe the owner of the bank is a fisherman and not a hunter, maybe the owner of the ad agency or the person in charge of the campaign is a fisherman. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Re: Afraid to mention hunting?

johnf: That is a Ice house :-) They do have an "otter Cabin" that is an ice house however:

I have to say here in Northern MN, I do indeed head every Nov. to the "hunting cabin" and every may for walleye opener we head to the "fishing cabin".......two different places....HOWEVer, I have buddies who make the same trip to the "hunting cabin" in the fall, and the "fishing cabin" in the spring....and they are the same cabin!

I wouldn't look to far into those words! Any "cabin" is a good cabin in my book!
