What do you do with a stolen rack? Is the person that low to pass it on as one of his one. Makes no sense.

Wonder the same thing and all that comes to mind is jealousy. Seems that there have been more and more stolen antlers, mounts and deer here over the past couple years.

Re: Iowa Deer Rack Stolen!!!

We had some people caught here a few years back that was stealing hanging deer, when they where finally caught they had some of the mounts in there house. They identified the mounts by pictures that the hunters took when they had shot there deer. When they finally got caught they also confessed to shooting a bunch of illegal moose. Unfortunatly limitation prevented much from happening.

Unfortunately there is a market out there for racks by antler collectors. smirk.gif

If y'all recall I think it was 2 years ago 2 big NT mounts were stolen in Iowa. One was a teenager's rack that was the new Iowa NT archery record. The other was a NT shotgun kill that scored over 200". I don't know if either one was ever recovered. frown.gif

Re: Iowa Deer Rack Stolen!!!

Look at it this way, and I will use myself as an example. As a deer hunter I have two loves, first is backstraps on the grill, hard to argue the love of that with many of us. My other love is a large mature whitetail buck. Living where I do in IL, my deer are as good as anywhere else in the world. Do I bend or break the law to HARVEST one of these fine animals, NO. Do I "road hunt" as is popular here, NO. The trohpy as many of us seak is what you see in your animal, deer or otherwise. However society being is what it is, leads some of us to believe that we need to kill the largest buck around to become accomplished hunter, and those of us that are not blessed enough to take a animal like that will do some terrible things to put a monster on the wall, this includes stealing the animal. I would hope that due to the money involed this would be a grand theft case, and if and when they catch this guy he get some hard time. Its just a deer, thats all it is, dont take from someone that has better fourtune than you. I hope the person that took that deer goes away for a long while. This was just my idea, sorry id I was wrong, but just my idea.
