Tom2008
Re: We should be ashamed!! Agree with you completly! I am proud to live in the state I do and have a chance to hunt so many different kinds of game with bow and rifle.
Doc
Re: We should be ashamed!! [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I was reading down through some of the posts today and i read the thread by Darkarcher of Wales and how almost all hunting is but illegal there. That really got me to thinking how fortunate we have it here as hunters. I think we should remember this the next time we want to argue about things like compounds/crossbows,trophy hunting/meat hunting,tradition/modern,brands of bows or the other stupid things we hunters argue about. I have been quilty of some of these these things but hope i never again take for granted the privilege we have in hunting and in living in the greatest country on Gods green earth. John [/ QUOTE ] I totally disagree!!!! What's wrong with a little discussion and/or argument every once in a while. Just because we sometimes disagree does not mean we don't respect each other. We have the freedoms to hunt and the freedom of speech!!! Were not all the same "robotic" people with the exact same views. So what if our views are different!!!! Having different views makes this forum interesting!!!! --rossman [/ QUOTE ] Well, finally! I was getting to feel like the Lone Ranger here. Kind of like being thrown into a remake of the "Stepford Wives", called "The Stepford Hunters" .....lol. Doc
VermontHunter
Re: We should be ashamed!! It's not the debate itself persay, Doc. It's how the debate progresses... How many times have we seen ourselfs, debating over wether crossbows should even be legal ??? Or arguing what a trophy whitetail should score to be considered a trophy..... and so on.... I agree debates such as AR and plot managements are great topics, but for one hunter to come out and say "HEY you shot a spike, you aren't a hunter you're a killer" or hear another hunter trashing another beacause he shot his deer with a crossbow instead of a compoundbow,, let's be honest with ourselfs, not everyone hunts with the same methods or weapons, but we are on the same team.... Like I said it's not the debates, it's the topics/comments within some debates that just shouldn't happen IMHO, but for some reason it doe's... Like I said earlier it should be hunters helping hunters, not the opposite...
rossman
Re: We should be ashamed!! Heres the problem!!!!! When writing a letter, typing an e-mail or typing in a message board it is impossible to hear the tone of comments. It is very easy to take comments the wrong way! Depending on your or my mood any given day, we can interpret comments differently. Yes, there are some people out there that make idiotic/offending comments. I'm sure I have done this in the past, and others have too. For a person to say "HEY you shot a spike, you aren't a hunter you're a killer". That may be there opinion, and thats just the way it is. This is what they believe in!!!! Although, I believe any hunter can kill whatever they want. It may be impolite to say, but like I said before, everyone is entitled to there opinion and they should be able to voice that opinion!!! Others can disagree and fire back at them. SO WHAT!!!! A little argument or debate in this forum will not hinder any of our future hunting rights. It's not even a possiblity!!! We are all on the same side, that's why we are in this forum. People hunt differently and believe some methods are better than others. Finally, let's stop getting our panties in a bunch and stop getting upset so easily!!!! Most of it is busting balls. What happens if your friend busts your balls and he/she sees you are getting upset? You will get your balls busted even more. Well, at least with my circle of friends. But at the end of the day my friends will take a bullet for me and me the same for them!!!! Same here, we can argue, get mad, disagree, punch our computer monitors or head butt our desks. But at the end of the day, we will always stand together for what we live for and love to do. And that is to hunt and enjoy the outdoors!!!!!! So, let's stop getting our feelings hurt so easily and chill out!!!!!! We live in America, not France!!!!! --Rossman

atthewall
Re: We should be ashamed!! The Federation of Welsh Packs is the hunt governing body of Wales and fox hunting is alive and well there. More hunting in Wales than any other part of the UK. It might be that bowhunting is limited and that may simply be due to the lack of proper representation of this form of hunting? I don't know but we are indeed blessed to have the various organizations working hard for us here with equality across the board on game taking methods. God Bless the good old US of A! Doc
Re: We should be ashamed!! It sounds like we're all saying pretty much the same thing. It's not the topics that are the problem, but rather occasionally the way arguments are presented. That's a point that I think I made in each of my replies. Also, I hope we are now aware that no matter what happens on this or any forum, it is not going to lead us to some non-hunting situation that is occurring in some other country. I hear that so much on these forums.... The notion that discussions on forums are going to lead to the abolishment of hunting. Hey, I know that we all consider ourselves pretty important people, but let's not get carried away with whatever super-influence we might think that we have .... lol. And for crying out loud, let's not ever get to the situation where we are ashamed to have opinions, regardless what they are. If we get to the point where we have to check our honesty and openess at the door, I really don't know what value these forums will have left. Guest generallee
Re: We should be ashamed!! i didnt really want to get involved, but now i feel compelled to throw in my 2 cents.... Sure other countries dont share the same hunting rights that we enjoy......but there are also many countries that dont have the same freedoms and opportunities that we do. There are people in countries outside the US that dont have the food, clothing and shelter that we have either. But here we are argueing about something small like hunting rights. To me, there are far more important things in life to get bent out of shape about then hunting rights. So maybe your right, maybe we oughta be ashamed......but not because of our hunting rights. Of course this is just my opinion.

Probably hunting is not at the top of the list in terms of priorities or importance in the world scheme of things, but that shouldn't reflect on our willingness to hold certain opinions and convictions on the subject. Come on now, surely you have the ability to be passionate on other subjects besides "world hunger". We're not going to wait until all the world problems are solved before we start discussing hunting related items are we? Probably not. And I hope we are not all sitting around feeling ashamed as we talk a little hunting. Doc
