Re: Anyone have suggestions on cold weather hunting?

If you know where some birds are located how about taking a blind and maybe one of those small, portable propane heaters? You could always just go a little later in the morning. Instead of being there at day break, go around 9:00 or so so things can warm up a little. Is your son or daughter already hooked on hunting? If they're not or they're just getting in to the sport you don't want them getting cold or miserable and having a bad time. Above all else other than safety, you want them to have a good time. I hope this helps. If you're more interested in cold weather tactics, I'd say that the birds should do pretty much what they normally would. Might stay on the roost longer though.

As long as the sky is clear and the wind is calm it should be good. I took a bird this year gobbling off the roost with a heavy frost on the ground. Sometimes they will stay on the roost a little longer. It's been unseasonalby cold this week and i've been seeing and getting reports of some major gobbling activity. Saw a great big one blowed up on the side of the road this morning.
