Re: %#&@#& LADYBUGS!

I was just reading about them on the internet and it says that the asian lady beetles (bugs) come indoors during the fall to find a place to winter, and then in the spring head back out. (Except for the ones I kill grin.gif). They do not reproduce or hatch young while indoors like other unmentionable bugs do. They are just a pest. I am just tired of vaccuming them up because they emit an odor and I hate it.

Re: %#&@#& LADYBUGS!

The only indoor ones we get is when it gets the first warm spell they fly up out of the yard and land all over the sides of the house, windows, and doors on the outside to soak the warmth up from the sun beating on the house. Then when you open the door it's a big swarm trying to come in the house. I kill all the ones that sneak indoors. The outdoor ones drive me nuts soon as you go outside they land on you and buzz in your ears.

Re: %#&@#& LADYBUGS!

We were getting ready to put steel on a building a couple years ago but had to change some rotten sheeting boards.Pulled the shingles off and cut the rotten spot out and there was thousands of dead lady bugs in the hole.We knocked a bunch out on the ground working around it and to our suprise they started getting up and flying/crawling away. This was early spring in an un insulated building, and they apparently lived in there all winter in-0 temps and it didnt kill em.I quit trying after that crazy.gifgrin.gif

Re: %#&@#& LADYBUGS!

My brother's in-laws farm gets really bad. I believe the PA Game Commission years ago actually brought them into PA by the millions to help control the gypsy moth problem we had several years ago. Since then, they just took off! First year I went to this farm, there were thousands of dead ladybugs! Hasnt been that bad lately!

You babies! laugh.gif

You want a ladybug story? I hunted an all metal deer stand shooting house thing one day and it heated up just enought to cause them to hatch or come out from whence they live. I had probably 20,000 ladybugs inside that house with me. I could barely see out of the house just from the sheer number of them. I would get them in my mouth (because I was cussing them for getting up my nose). I couldn't see through my binos because they were all over the lenses of them AND my scope. I had them crawling up my pants legs and down the back of my shirt. It was sheer misery.

I was in unfamiliar territory and couldn't get down because other hunters were all around me.

Now THOSE are ladybugs!

A deer stand is one thing, I don't want a single one inside my home.

Next fall spray your eaves, cracks and crevices of the house with Sevin.

Whoa!! I wouldn't do that, in fact I stay away from that stuff, I def. woudn't spray my house...that is potent stuff and can be dagerous.

When did you become professor entomology?

It's been recommended by numerous recognized authorities.

Sheesh, buy a house and all of a sudden you're an expert.

Re: %#&@#& LADYBUGS!

We get them here pretty bad some years, but get some every spring and fall. I hate them. It is impossible to keep them out of a house, I think they can get in anywhere.

I even noticed some in the light covers at the hospital back in November, when our daughter was born.
