rossman
Re: Realtree\'s milk river hunt!!! [ QUOTE ] I think realtree knows a little bit more than you or I about hunting and the pocket books to prove it. These are fellow hunters here folks give them a break. [/ QUOTE ] If you or I were placed in those same stands that they were, we would be killing the same bucks. They are hunting the most highly productive properties in the US. We cannot base how good they are just because they are placed in stands by outfitters. Take Bill Jordan's son for example. All he does is pull the trigger. He is told where to go and what to shoot. Good for him! I am not taking anything away from these guys but we cannot base their hunting skills on the bucks they shoot in the videos. They are on highly respected ranches with high protein food plots with great deer management.
ruttinbuc
Re: Realtree\'s milk river hunt!!! Anybody know what the average distance for Chuck Adams North American Big Game Grand Slam was? I bet it was more than fifty yards.
ruttinbuc
Re: Realtree\'s milk river hunt!!! Thanks J.B., Looks like I would have lost that bet. Those are still quite impressive yardages. It comes down to where you place your limits in practice. I agree that long range shooting will make you a better short range shooter. State of the animal makes a difference as well. Alert game is a risk at any yardage. I shot my Earn a Buck doe in the early season from the ground at 38 yards. She had just put her head down to graze. I had total confidence in shooting that distance by practicing out to 60 yards.
rossman
Re: Realtree\'s milk river hunt!!! 60 yards is still to far to shoot with a bow!!!! The "professionals" should know this!!!! Maybe they are not prpofessionals afterall!!!! This settles it, they are not the professionals we all thought they were. When it came to crunch time for them. It was either pass a deer at 60 yards and not get one or take a 60 yard shot a hope to kill a deer. Looks like the greed of killing a monster buck got the best of them. And that is what it is, greed!!!! To possibly wound a deer or even worse, kill it and not find it, just to have a chance at a great buck is inexcusable!!!! They should know better. We are not so called "professionals" and we know better. But from the looks of these posts, maybe not!!!! My point was, if they know so much about deer hunting to have the "professional" status. Then they should know better than not to take such a long shot. Also, they should never get greedy!!!! Andthis is what they did. i don't know about anyone else, but I am sick and tired of all the excuses that are made for them. They are not any better than us. We just chose a different profession. Guest KSNimrod
Re: Realtree\'s milk river hunt!!! We all have limits in our minds as to how far we will shoot. We say 20 yards or 30 yards, but seriously, how many times has a deer actully stopped at exactly 20 yards or whatever that distance is for you? If your limit is "30 yards" would you shoot at a huge buck at 32 yards? Does that make you unethical? Just something to think about. Until Jesse or Ginger decide to say what the exact details are, all we can do is discuss our own thoughts!
