drkillemquick
Our season in Ontario starts tomorrow, and I have the next three days off. The weather forcast is for colder wet weather. Does anybody have any tips on hunting turkeys in the rain. Any advise would be welcome. Thanks
Adjam5
Re: Turkey\'s in the rain???? I just got thru the youth turkey season here in NYS with my oldest son. It rained all day saturday and up until 10am sunday. We got out as soon as the heavy rain stopped. We found lots of turkey scat all over, and fresh tracks. Since the noise of the rain helps hide predators looking for turkey, turkey like the open fields when its raining. It gives them a good sight picture for their defense. Worms come out big time in the rain, and that is good food to the turkeys. Turkeys are creatures of habit, where you find them one day you'll most likely find them there again. BTW...we didn't get any gobblers, kicked up a few hens that were alone and not tommed up yet. Decoys are big, use them if you have 'em... Good luck and hunt safe. MossySNPR
Re: Turkey\'s in the rain???? Yeah I hear ya drkill, Adjam is right about the fields and clearings, tomorrow morning my buddy and I are going right to a well-used field edge and putting out four decoys, we're sticking it out there but we don't think we want to run and gun, unless its to another well-used field.
