buckee
ACTUAL RADIO CONVERSATION This was a conversation between a US naval ship and Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland in late 1995. Canadians: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the south to avoid a collision. Americans: Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the north to avoid a collision. Canadians: Negative. You will have to divert your course 15 degrees to the south to avoid a collision. Americans: This is the captain of a US Navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course. Canadians: No, I say again, NEGATIVE, you must divert YOUR course. Americans: This is the Aircraft Carrier US LINCOLN, the second largest ship in the United States Atlantic Fleet. We are accompanied with three Destroyers, three Cruisers and numerous support vessels. I DEMAND that you change your course 15 degrees north. I say again, that's one-five degrees north, or counter-measures will be undertaken to ensure the safety of this ship. Canadians: This is a lighthouse, sir. But it's your call. VermontHunter
Re: When Push comes to shove I bet if those US Ships opened fire they wouldn't have to worry about that Light house or most of the coastline, nevermind a few degree's here or there.... The Fleet has also been advised to stay clear. Thank you, over . Canadians Roger. ..“Accelerate Your Life, after turning one-five degrees south, Thank you. Have a nice day eh...over and out

BowJoe
Re: When Push comes to shove Yeah, it'd be even funnier if it were true. One, I heard that about another navy and another country and Two, with the sophistication of the radar on that fleet of ships, one of them would have detected the shore line or whatever it's supposed to be. funny. Tominator
Re: When Push comes to shove Kinda funny, but I'd have to say it's not true. Heck, I was on an old, old Coast Guard Puddle Pirate cutter and even with that old radar and old Loran-C navigation you could easily tell where you were at all times.
