KenW Posted November 24, 2004 Report Share Posted November 24, 2004 Success again I got a nice 4 X 3 tonight Buckee and I went down to the farm we hunt on again tonight Steve laid a good scent trail from bush edge out in front of where i was set up and Thu the gate to where he was setting up about 100 yd to my left in a different Field.At dusk the deer started to show up it was dark enough that i couldn't make out antlers at a distance but i could see a large deer pushing smaller deer around,up to this point i had been using doe and buck calls but when i saw what appeared a buck pushing doe's i switched to just doe calls.Well about 5 minutes later he started coming my way but 50 yd to my left following the scent trail laid down earlier,when he got to the gate i got him to come to my calls. He was coming right at me head head down following the trail i made with my cane ( i had sprayed the end of my cane with doe in estrus before i walked to the blind ) at about 20 ft i put the red dot on him and pulled the trigger he ran about forty yds and turned to head back to me and dropped.This was only my 4 th time out this year and I'm done many thanks Steve for all your help Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Nice mature buck buddy...awesome That guy is a brute and dang heavy too...LOL...My poor back. That's the 4th deer taken from our home-made grass-blind this year. Not bad eh. I'm hoping to maybe get one more myself out of there now, since you and Wilfinator have got it all warmed up for me...LOL That was Mr. Wiggleys doe-in-estrus scent again too guys. It's gotten us every deer so far this year. They come in like they're on a leash...LOL. A little "woodswise mini-tube" deer calling doesn't hurt either eh Ken...LOL Way to go buddy...ya done gooood. Ken shot that buck at less than 20 feet, walking straight at him from a ground-blind.
