Jeramie
My washing machine is on the blitz. I guess it is roughly 8-years old so go figure.... Anyway, its starting to fill the tub with water but its draining as fast as the water is pumping in. Im sure there is a valve that is suppose to close to keep the water in the tub and then open after the cycle. The water is comming in full tilt but not sticking around. Because it never fills it never goes into wash cycle, instead it just dumps the water down the drain. Does anyone have any experience with washing machine repair? I assume it works off of a pressure switch or relay. Hopefully its something easy. My wife is threatening to buy a new one unless it get it up and running.... SOON! Help! OJR
Re: Repair a Washing Machine? It might be your timer control panel. If it is, you will find it will cost more than replacing the whole thing! I have found it is much cheaper in the long run to get a new one! Bite the bullet!!
hutchies
Re: Repair a Washing Machine? OJR is right sometimes it is more expensive. I would take it to a shop. We got lucky twice and it only cost us 50. Also there maybe something in the valve so it can't shut.............like say a baby sock. Strut10
Re: Repair a Washing Machine? Can't tell you, exactly, since I've never had the washing machine apart. I will tell you, though, having some firsthand experience with dryer repair..........unplug it before you do anything. Nuff said??
dg
Re: Repair a Washing Machine? Do a search at google for appliance repair. There is some good sights out there that tell you how it should operate. Once I read some websites and got my multimeter out, I troubleshot a bad fuse down underneath my dryer. The fuse was $11. It worked great since. Also, if you troubleshoot it down to a component, don't go to Sears. Go to a mom and pops appliance repair with the part number. It should be alot cheaper. Hoosierbuck
Re: Repair a Washing Machine? repairclinic.com is a good resource for how-to and parts. If it does not work, I say take it apart and try to find out what's wrong, then see if you can fix it yourself. If not, you have saved that much time in labor for the repair guy.
