Tominator
I borrowed my buddy's 15 gallon Fimco tow behind sprayer to spray a big patch of weeds. I can get the pressure gauge up to 60lbs on the wand hose, but I can't get pressure to the boom nozzles. The main hose to the boom is not clogged, neither are the nozzles. Any ideas? The_Kat
Re: Little Help Better check your lines....I hate sprayers, they're nothing but a pain in the neck....even if ya take good care of them. If the pressure is there, then either a valve is closed, or possible not opening when you open it, or there is a clog in the filter or line. I have to battle mine all the time and it's usually a tiny clog in the lines. Runs some diesel throw it.
OJR
Re: Little Help Sounds like the nozzles themselves are plugged with some kind of build-up! I have seen that happen before! If you have a Dremel tool or some kind of small bit, you might be able to unclog them! Just an idea!
Tominator
Re: Little Help Lines and nozzles are completely clear. I already dismantled and cleaned them.
OJR
Re: Little Help Then the hoses feeding the nozzles must have a hole in them, so pressure can't build up! Or the hoses are leaking!
Tominator
Re: Little Help I hooked the hose from the pump to my garden hose and it sprayed like a champ, ergo, it's the pump I think.
The_Kat
Re: Little Help but if it was the pump, then how would the pressure build??? Pr does the 60 lbs build slowly??? If it does then the water pressure itself can build the 60lbs....your sprayer outta be thrower 150+ lbs for normal output bud. I hope ya get it figured out
AaronS
Re: Little Help Did you close the valve going to the wand? Doing that will route the spray to the boom.
wtnhunt
Re: Little Help Have you checked the pickup inside the tank itself Chris? Might be clogged. You might try and pull the wand off, turn the pump on for just a second and see if you get anything coming out. If not and the pickup is not clogged, then it is most likely the pump. Tominator
Re: Little Help Never did figure it out. Kind of hard to explain on the internet, but none of the lines are clogged, from the uptake it goes to the pump, then right out of the pump sits the pressure gauge. Right under the pressure gauge is the wand hose, then it goes into a "Y" fitting. One "Y" goes back to the boom, the other Y has a hose going back into the tank. both of those have valves on them. Later when I tried to figure it out again, I couldn't get any pressure on the gauge at all. Wondering if there's maybe an air lock in the pump or something, or the pump is just shot. wtnhunt
Re: Little Help Like I said Chris, to determine if the pump is working or not take loose the hose at the pump out before or after the gauge shouldnt matter. Try and run it for a few seconds with water in the tank and see if anything comes out. If you dont get anything the pump is probably shot. The_Kat
Re: Little Help Ya, is beginning to sound like a bad pump. Does the pump make any hissing sounds? Could be a bad seal in the tank that holds the air for the spray output. Like I said, you need 150 lbs or so on your tank for it to spray well...at least on my pump, and if you have air leak somewhere, you'll never get a good mist. My advice is take it to a small parts mechanic.
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Little Help Sounds like the pump is working but not building up pressure meaning a leak is somewhere, whether internal or external. Could have air in it but eventually that works itself out, maybe you have to prime it manually, see any plugs where you can prime it? wtnhunt
Re: Little Help Those pumps are not really too expensive. Northerntools carries the sureflo pumps like on our sprayer. Think they are around $60.
