OJR
I feel so bad that J. Gordon did not finish!! NOT!! Great place for him!! Now if only J. Johnson would have a couple of those in a row!! Not wishing either one of them any bad luck!! Chevy does win however and was glad to see Hamlin get his first win!
HarvDog
Re: Gordon-DNF Congrats to Hamlin! I'm no Gordon fan but I am glad he's okay. That was quite a wreck.
ruttinbuc
Re: Gordon-DNF That is the same spot that almost took Bobby Allison's life and ended his career. If not for the hans device and the safer barrier walls Jeff might have been in the same situation. I am glad he is okay.

VermontHunter
Re: Gordon-DNF Orlan, find a tall building and jump will ya... Man, that was a hard wreck,, glad to see Gordon wasn't hurt... His team really needs to get their heads screwed on tighter before they really get one of these guys hurt,,,, Gordon's crew chief has really missed these setups by a big bunch... CONGRATS, to Hamlin on a mighty fine win..
tedicast
Re: Gordon-DNF that was a viscious hit, especially on the driver side that the 24 took. Definately a testament to all the safety innovations Nascar has implemented over the years. You have to thing that the Safer Barriers definately had a lot to do with Gordon walking away from that one.

However, I am just as glad that he dropped out of the top 10 for the chase! I hope he misses it again this year, next year and the next 20 years! I guess I have made my point!! LOL!! [/ QUOTE ] I hope not because Im going to be there in the stands and I dont like it when Hendrick or Roush cars do good when Im watching. But about the accident......I really was surprised to see Jeff climb out of that car. That was a nasty hit. I dont care for him and I like it when he doesnt finish but I dont like seeing any of them get hurt.
VermontHunter
Re: Gordon-DNF Jeff always seems to either win a race or finihas a great finish after a DNF for some reason.... ans with Sonoma the following week (Road Coarse) whisch his is speciatly.... YEP he'll be back in the chase pronto....
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Gordon-DNF Hamlin was on rails, he had a rocket. Great win for never having raced there before. This kid is for real, he sealed the deal not like Vickers and Mears who appear to be a Hot commodity but yet have not won yet in Nextel Cup! Hamlin and Edwards are the next up and comers, great to see Denny win it! As for Gordon, that was a heck of a hit! Hate to see anyone hit the wall that hard! Glad to see his o.k. after that hit, safer walls and great race cars built on safety had it possible!

Gordon is still competitive and always a threat, but he isn't one of the top drivers in NASCRAP anymore. He's on the downhill now. Two or three years ago all these DNF's and bad runs would have NEVER happened. It's a combination of things, but Gordon isn't what he used to be. VermontHunter
Re: Gordon-DNF Now Matt,,, why did you just contradict yourself in the same post..... With one breathe you say he's still competative, and with the next you say he's on the down side.... Michigan, isn't his best track,,, but I think he will fair well there,,, and we have 2 road course tracks coming up that,,, he's been super dominate on, and he can't ever be counted out of those... Jeff still has what it takes to win,,, his crew on the other hand, well that's another story.... Just look at how high his cars have been setup for the past few weeks,,,, compared to others that have done well.... And thier mechanical wizards,, have been far from brilliant... Chrud
Re: Gordon-DNF Even though he is on the decline, he can still be competitive. Look at what he was. There are still tracks he'll be good at and a threat to win, but it isn't a sure bet like the 48 is now. I can see the 24 making the Chase a couple more times, but I don't see him being a threat for the Championship. He'll still win, he is that good, but his career is winding down. OJR
Re: Gordon-DNF Every time he is interviewed, it is whine, whine, whine!! When he is being interviewed is when I switch channels and watch commercials! They are much better!! I am amazed that he didn't try to blame someone or something for his brake failure!! I know for someone who thinks he is so great, that is hard to understand! No buttons pushed, just the way it is! The thing that is great is that you think he is great and that way I don't have to think that way and won't because he is over the hill!! VermontHunter
Re: Gordon-DNF Come on Orlan you can do better than that..... I haven't heard Gordon whine about anything in his interviews.... Are you sure your talking about the 4 time Champion or the other Gordon that can't sem to figure out what a race car is for other than crashing it or blowing it up..... He might be getting on the slow side,,, but the boy can still wheel a car,, and is one of the best at car management....
OJR
Re: Gordon-DNF If you haven't heard him whine, then you have worse hearing than I do! WOW!! I know, it is hard to admit to reality when you are trying to defend someone like him! Oh well, you can keep right on and I will watch someone else who is more entertaining and doesn't whine! LOL!! I have to agree with you on one thing and that is he does drive a Chevy!
VermontHunter
Re: Gordon-DNF Your still are avoiding specifics my friend,,,,, You honsetly can't be telling me that everytime Gordon is interviewed,, he's whinning about something... You'll have to refresh my mind as to when he exactly has done all of this so called whinning...

AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Gordon-DNF Not a huge Jeff Gordon fan but you can't argue with his 4 championships and numerous wins and most of his wins are big ones, Brickyard 400, Daytona 500, Southern 500, Coca-Cola 600, The guy is a winner no matter what, he may be on the downside of his career but his downside is still better than most than compete each week!
