World Hunting Tour

Welcome to hunting in the 21st century! With the commercial success of bass fishing I always knew someone would eventually try to turn hunting into a head to head competitive sport. I bet Aldo is rolling over in his grave.

The only way to shoot this in the foot is to email the sponsors and tell them this is a stupid idea. I can only imagine that a lot of these hunting competitions will take place on game farms.

WORLD HUNTING ASSOCIATION IS LAUNCHED AS DESTINATION STANDARD FOR THE SPORT

Detroit, MI (June 6, 2006) - The World Hunting Association (WHA) officially launched today as a global competitive sporting establishment dedicated to organizing and promoting the sport of hunting and conservation.

The WHA promises to take hunting to a new level by creating a competitive hunting tour, showcasing the sport's finest hunters competing for hundreds of thousands of dollars in prize money. The 2006 inaugural world wide tour will kick off this fall in Gladwin, Michigan at the Lost Arrow Ranch.

David Farbman, a prominent Michigan real estate executive and avid hunter, founded the WHA and will serve as the organization's Commissioner and CEO. The WHA concept has strong financial backing from a number of prominent investors, including Mr. Farbman himself.

"We are prepared to lead the hunting industry into new areas of Tour events and state-of-the-art website interactivity that promise to deliver the excitement of hunting to a new audience while showcasing the passion and skills of the professional hunter in full-scale, non-fatal competition," noted Farbman. "The WHA fills a void by providing a platform that benefits the entire international hunting industry today and for generations to come."

In addition to its investors, the WHA has secured prestigious hunting industry inaugural sponsors including G-5 Outdoors, Eastman Outdoors, Inc. (Carbon Express Arrows), Gorilla, Inc. (Treestands), Xtreme Scents, Pneu-Dart, and others. Additional sponsors will be unveiled in the coming months from the hunting industry and mainstream mass-market advertisers.

"We're honored to have been chosen as one of the first sponsors of the WHA," said Lou Grace, owner of G5 Outdoors. "From a marketing standpoint, we believe the WHA represents a great opportunity for companies to tap into a very lucrative demographic. We're looking forward to working with the WHA."

The WHA will feature a series of major tournament events, oversight on a series of smaller events, and a highly interactive and informative website for members. WHA events will be broadcast through many outlets including Internet, television, Pay-per-view, On Demand, and others. WHA plans to become the standard for professional hunting competition and to grow and enhance the industry's image and presence.

During WHA Tour events, highly skilled hunters from around the world will compete, utilizing the WHA's patent-pending, respectful non-fatal tranquilizing technique that will allow for a thrilling tournament experience. This technique will expand the hunting fan base beyond passionate hunters to a broad-based mainstream audience, which will resonate well with the country's leading companies and brands. The WHA will also have a significant economic impact on the local communities where the Tour events will be held, starting with Michigan, and is committed to supporting hunting-related charitable organizations worldwide.

"The WHA will take hunting to a level on par with other popular sports organizations," said Brett Hankins, a WHA Tour hunter. "For far too long, hunters have looked forward to the day when we would eventually get our own professional sports league. Well, that time has arrived and we are extremely excited."

G5 Outdoors has pulled out. I got this email today from them.

Hello Steve,

Thank you for your e-mail. We at G5 outdoors are very interested in your concerns. As of 4:00 p.m. on June 12, 2006 we have withdrawn our support and sponsorship of the WHA. Our only intent was to grow archery. This is clearly not happening. Please explain to your friends and fellow hunters that G5 in no way intended to offend anyone and that we have listened to your voice. Thanks again for your correspondence.

Sincerely,

Peter Crawford

And as far as I know so far, Eastman Outdoors, Inc. (Carbon Express Arrows), Gorilla, Inc. (Treestands), are not sponsoring them either.

We have been discussing this topic for the last few days in the "Deer Hunting" room, for anyone who is interested. There are links for sending your emails to in there also.

G5 has pulled out!

Safari Club International speaks out against World Hunting Association

After thousands of hunters from all over North America have flooded the World Hunting Association and sponsors with protest letters which have caused sponsors to pull their support for the W.H.A.

Now it's the reputable Safari Club International to follow suit and voice their opinion against the World Hunting Association. That is very good news for all ethical hunters and could very well be the last nail in the proverbial coffin for the World Hunting Association. Lets hope so!

SCI Questions Concept of "World Hunting Association

The "World Hunting Association" last week announced that it would stage a series of "tournament" professional hunting events this year, in which the game pursued would be shot with tranquilizer darts launched from bow hunting equipment. Participants would compete for much as $600,000 in prize money over the series of tournament events. SCI has serious concerns with attempts to "professionalize" the tradition of the hunt, particularly with cash rewards. In addition, the institution of "catch and release" tactics for hunting, using powerful sedatives, is highly questionable with regard to the future health of the game animals that are captured for the competition. While the group espouses the noble goals of increasing hunter recruitment and retention, SCI believes that education and outreach programs remain the best option for bring newcomers into the field. Likewise, SCI believes that conventional regulated hunting techniques, including due diligence on the part of hunters to prevent the wounding of game, are the only true definition of hunting. SCI President Mike Simpson told Crosshairs that "Hunting isn't bass fishing. It just doesn't translate to made-for-TV entertainment, conducted on a professional catch-and-release basis for cash rewards."

Re: World Hunting Tour

What they need to do is have a Reality show, if this is all about ratings then take some outdoor hunters, Take Uncle Ted (Nugent) Michael Waddell, Bill Jordan, Chuck Adams, Myles Keller, Babe Winkeleman, Tom Miranda, & Stan Potts (there are others but they can be on season #2).

Take these guys, put them in a hunting camp, make them do outdoor games. Earn points from the games and the highest point total gets the best hunting spot in the "uncanned" hunting area. So the winner gets into the cedar swamp and the loser sits out in the oak tree in the center of the 100 acre bean field!

If the point is to glamorize hunting and make a buck, don't do it by shooting darts at animals. It gives hunting a black eye and makes bad television. People want to see Nugent and Potts go at it in a tug of war!! smile.gif LOL!!

Never thought about my grandchildren Hawg but you are so true my friend, this can't get started, it will ruin our sport and guys like us get on here to promote the outdoors. The people who thought of WHT are just thinking of the old mighty dollar. Hunting is not a reality show, its a part of life we should preserve, not destroy!!!
