DOH!

I've been away for nearly a month recovering from my first ever sports-related injury. About four weeks ago during a softball game, a line drive came back at me as I was pitching...and this was the result...

A couple days later, they pinned it all back together...and the pins were just removed on Tuesday. I'm still in quite a bit of pain and am not online much...but at least this time I have a good reason for not posting for a while...LOL

After 8 weeks of occupational therapy starting tomorrow, I might actually be able to get some normal motion back. I never noticed how vital that little finger was until this...

My goal...to be playing again in a couple weeks against doctor's orders...LOL

Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know I'm back, but don't think my posts will contain their normal redundance and depth...

Re: DOH!

Oh baby does that bring back terrible memories..

I had a simular injury while playing LaCrosse during my USAF days.

I was wacked with a 6 foot long oak handle defencemens stick, threw a padded glove, and broke 2 fingers, shattered one of them bad...

I did not get "pinned" though...

Dang cheap USAF. LOL

Actaully I am glad I did not.

I would of puked 4 times a day seeing pins sticking out of me.

Yes I am a whimp when it comes to that sort of thing.

But only on me. LOL

Do yourself a favor and stick to what the Doc says.

I did not and pay for it now with pain in those fingers now.

Good Luck!

Re: DOH!

The pins weren't that bad and I got used to how they looked...

When it happened, I swelled up right away and I grabbed my finger, trying to make myself believe it was just jammed...then felt the bones rub against each other.

It actually happened during batting practice before the first game...and I played anyway. I only went 1-3 though...lol

Then I elected to have the procedure done under a local anesthetic even though they were initially going to give me a general.

I hate needles, I hate going to the doctor...but now I'm convinced that I'm pretty tough...LOL

Re: DOH!

I took a softball to the thumbguard of my glove. Broke my thumb at the knuckle. Spent six weeks in a cast. Good thing I didn't listen to the doctors and started playing again in 3 weeks with the cast(I just batted).

Heal Up and get back out there.

WOW. Those are cool pictures. Hope you get full use of your hand back real soon. wink.gif

I am sure I won't be thinking about this when my son plays in the all-star baseball tournament in 2 weeks. crazy.gifgrin.gif
