HEY OKIES

I need some help guys. How many of you realized there was a MINIMAL LEGAL LENGTH of 1.5" for Broadheads in the state? Well, I think that needs to be changed, especially with some of the smaller heads coming out, Like the new MX-4 by Muzzy, and the STRYKER by G5, just to name a few. I would like to approach the commision next January with some statistical information to get this changed. I will be talking with the Wildlife Department in the next couple of days to see what exactly I need to do. But in the meantime wanted to see who here would be willing to help me with this quest. Thanks guys!!

Re: HEY OKIES

The length is of the ACTUAL BLADE LENGTH. That being from tip to where the threads START. I have talked to two Game Wardens and the have told me as much.

Granted, i don't know how often they check this, BUT do you want to take a chance of getting caught and pay the ticket?

Re: HEY OKIES

Yes this needs to be changed. Those shorter shafted BH's will smoke through a deer just as fast as anything. Blade Dia is important but that rule makes no sense.

Youre on the right track by contacting the BH's manufacturers. If you need anything let me know. There are a few blades Ive looked at and didnt buy for the same reason. I read that rule some time ago and have actually payed attention since then.... regardless of how dumb it is..

Re: HEY OKIES

I have talked again with MAGNUS and was advised to contact the state bowhunting council, which I sent an email to them this morning. After talking with Woody again, I feel like I am about to open up a whole new can of worms, and anticipate being met with strong opposition from the traditional shooters in the state.

Jeramie, what were some of those brands?

Re: HEY OKIES

No reply yet from the president of the Bowhunting Council of Oklahoma. Feel like if I don't get their backing, this may not happen. I'll give it another couple of days, see what happens. Hopefully I will hear from some of these other manufacturers

Re: HEY OKIES

This is a reply I got from one of the more well known manufacturers that I contacted. I also talked with another yesterday that basically told me the same thing, but they were NOT very helpful at all IMO. Sure won't be using ANY of their products.

I understand and rules are very vague in many states. According to how

it is written, they would not have a case against you if you shot any

head that was measured shorter going from the shoulder to tip as the

total length is longer.

Now, what to do?? confused.gifconfused.gif

Re: HEY OKIES

Actually jeramie, he ahs done tests on 2-3 of them. MUZZY MX-4, Crossfire, Slicktrick. I found out 85gr Thunderheads were to short, along with 85gr MONTEC's.......But like I said, I dunno what to do now, shoot them and push the envelope, or get it changed now, before it goes a way we don't want it to.

I wonder if we should all email the Bowhunting Council, with some of the material from 5-shots tests, and see what happens......
