GWSmith Posted July 5, 2006 Report Share Posted July 5, 2006 Just 4 minutes after replying to Gator's post about house training a new puppy.... I let my Beagle out to go to the bathroom. All was well and good as he at first headed towards the mailbox post...then things went horribly wrong with a sharp right turn and the afterburners got kicked in Somewhere in the next door neighbors driveway he caught what he was chasing. By this time I was off the front porch shouting for him to "Get back here"!!! I figured he got what he had coming to him as it looked like he got scratched on the face the way he was snowplowing his head along the ground on his way back. He's in the garage right now in his crate/kennel after having been bathed outside under the waterhose...a couple times. I just got out of the shower and my clothes are in the washing machine with laundry detergent and bleach. I hope he learned his lesson not to chase those cats again....especially those ones with Black and White stripes!!! Well...I got the smell Off of me...except for the inside of my Nose The only way I could get to sleep last night was: With a couple fingertips of Vick's Vapor rub shoved up my nose. I rubbed cocoa butter lotion and then finally Vick's Vapor rub onto my hands(after washing them 3-4 times). I dont think I'll be that lucky with "Harley" I'm pretty sure he recieved a direct facial shot from his new buddy with the Butt bomb He'll probably get used to staying in the garage for the next couple days ...He knows I'm up right now...I can hear him barking. I cant help but have some pity for him though. When I was bathing him he just stood there and let me wash his face...twice...he never did that before. I woke up this morning and the wife had placed what we had in the pantry on the kitchen table...a can of tomatoe sauce and a large jar of Ragu Spaghetti sauce I geuss today I'll be making "Fresh Chunky Beagle Marinara" I'm starting to laugh about it now...OK...it will probably change to just a snicker when I open the garage door to bath him again ___________________________________________ Your right Luke... He use to love chasing the cats through the field until he got after the wrong cat! Hopefully he learned and the fun wasnt worth the price.... This recipe will chemically break down the source of the odor. 1 Quart of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide 1/4 Cup of Baking Soda 1 Tablespoon of Dawn Dish Soap Stir to a frothy lathering shampoo, must be used immediately on pet. This stuff is volatile and can not be stored, but it works perfect. Will totally eliminate the skunk smell if mixed right and worked into a lather in the fur. It was dark out and he ran in the house and couldnt see because he got it in the eyes and ran into the wall and busted the eletrical plate off and they caught him and started bathin him. When I was stationed in Erie, we had this mutt mongrel of a dog named Liberty. That stupid dog was always loaded with ticks and played with skunks on a nightly basis--and some of the guys loved him! GW I guess you tried it out already but, it fizzes when you mix the peroxide and baking soda, and because it would keep fizzing if bottled for storage (thats what I meant by volatile) it could cause the bottle to blow up. It isn't good for the dogs eyes b/c of the Dawn... But what soap, or even tomato juice is??? Other than that you should be fine. Hope that smell leaves your lungs soon! He was runnin down a little loggin road, and stopped and looked to the side. He then jumped at something, and immediately jumped back, after being sprayed. Then he jumped right back in and killed that skunk.lol Fleetwood hasn't quit stinkin yet. And of course, he's inside layin on the couch right now. haha. Hopefully he will quit stinking soon, it's startin to get annoying. It's faded enough that i will pet him now, i wouldn't come near him for the first couple days.lol have fun!
