Steven Posted July 21, 2006 Report Share Posted July 21, 2006 Yep, a couple of weeks ago I made a thread called 'Ahh, vacation', but now it's different. I'm 2 1/2 weeks into a 4 week vacation and I'm just ready to go back on the road. I'm running through my cash reserves fast! I'm so worthless right now that I'm ashamed of myself. All this sitting around, staying up late and sleeping in makes me feel like a democrat. As sad as it sounds, I don't know what day of the week it is. I do know the date is the 19th, or something. The plants shut down this month to retool for the new model year and I decided to stay home, because my dispatcher always sends me to Chicago. I'd rather sit at home bored than go to Chicago. I still have a week of vacation saved for Thanksgiving when I'll be going to Kansas. I have access to 5000 acres of family land hunted by no one but my uncle. By mid-July after breaking up the 5,459th fight between my kids, and destroying my adult vocabulary, I'm ready to go back to work. Funny thing is, right about mid August I think to myself "this isn't too bad, now I have to start getting up at 5 again." My wife was complaining yesterday about going to work, and my son said "yeah, but it's Friday mommy." To which Heather lit up, and I looked at her and said "tomorrow's Friday? Already?" I took one day off back in January for a long weekend with the kids at an indoor waterpark in the Wisconsin Dells. This is about the latest I've ever gone into the summer without taking any time off. I'm finally going to use a week of it next week to spend with my inlaws - GOD WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??? Actually they're all pretty cool except for my mother-in-law. There will be lots of fishing and swimming and other on-the-water time. It's some what of a family reunion for my wife's grandfather's 85th birthday. I'll use another week in October for our annual Manitoba waterfowl excursion.
