Why buy a Moultrie

Why do people keep buying these Moultrie cameras? Aren`t there better cameras out there in the $150.00 price range? I`m just curious with all the problems the Moultries cameras have why would anybody buy one. I just thought this would make a interesting topic.

Joe, I'm really hoping there are people who disagree with you. I haven't heard that much bad about them besides a little hit and miss. I just happened to buy the new 4.1 Cabelas outfitter and I'm really hoping its going to work fine, if it does happen to be slow trigger speed I guarantee its going back.

I am not here to talk bad about a product, but I had to Game Spy 100's. Had the out for about 1 month and I only got 4 pics. One of a deer but it was so washed out you could not tell anything about it. 3 were flase triggers. I took both back to wal-mart. I will never own another. I have 4 homebrews and working on 2 more. In the last 6 months I have logged over 5,000 pics with my homebrews.

Why do people buy them. Because of the price. I had a cuddeback. It was stolen, so it was very hard for me to spend another $400 bucks on a new one. I have had cameras out over 7+ years and never had one stolen or bothered. But then lost the cuddeback so dont want to go down that road again.

As for the Moultrie I currently have 3 and have had no problems with them. Oh and all 3 only have costt me about $200 bucks.

For the Money you just cannot beat them... IMO.

Thats a lot of photos in that time frame. Must be a TON of deer in your area. Lets see thats like 26 to 28 photos a day. Must have them in good spots. grin.gif

I bought mine for the price, it's what i could afford, it takes great pictures, i do not like the alien eyes on flash photo's but that's the way it is, last week i had 128 pictures, if i could afford a cuddeback or leafriver, i would buy one, but for now the moultrie is working fine.

I have one at a mineral block and one in my soybean plot. Both set on 1 min delay. I get about 50 pic a day at each of these sites. The other 2 are on trails leading to the soybean plot. They are set on 10 sec delay. They average 20-30 pics a day. So I get multi pics of the same deer. After season I put one at my feeder to see what made it thru season and I can fill a card up (300+) in about 2-3 days.l cool.gif

I am not trying to put the Moultrie cams down I am just telling what I had happen to me with 2 cams. I have seen several post by many people that have good luck with them. And I have seen several with problems.

One thing is that people expect a $99 camera to work like a $400 camera. That is just not going to happen. Another thing is user error. ooo.gif

Re: Why buy a Moultrie

I did not start this post to trash the Moultrie camera, it just seems all I read are negative things about the Moultrie cameras and was wondering way people still buy them. I have a Moultrie 100 and it works OK, but this is my 5th Moultrie first 4 all had problems. I like seeing all these positive replies, this lets people know, not all Moultrie cameras are bad. Like I said, I just thought this would make a interesting topic.

Re: Why buy a Moultrie

I just bought the 100 for $60 at Wal-Mart yesterday. Set it out last night and all I got was a pic of a deers butt grin.gif. The pic was pretty clear though. Even at regular price I could buy 4 of the Moultries for the cost of a Cuddeback. It triggers in about 3secs. not too bad.
