Gator
Re: Crossbows...yeah or nay Here is my opinion on crossbows, feeders, mineral sights, food plots, yadda yadda. IF LEGAL IN YOUR STATE, I AM ALL FOR IT. And if using a crossbow brings new hunters into our "sport" so be it, we need all the help we can get. Cutter
Re: Crossbows...yeah or nay I think people with disabilities should be allowed to use them during archery season but if you want to hunt with a crossbow because you prefer them then you should have to hunt in regular season. Shaun_300
Re: Crossbows...yeah or nay Welcome to the forums. I use them sometimes, I don't have my own but I borrow a friends. He has a Excalibur Exomag. I killed one deer with it so far. Now I just tried out the compound bow and I love it, so that's what I'll be using this bow season. BTW, crossbows are legal to use in bow season in Ontario.
wtnhunt
Re: Crossbows...yeah or nay [ QUOTE ] I've been told it's a fear that gun hunters will invade the archery season because they dont have to practice with a regular bow. [/ QUOTE ] Really honestly have to agree with this idea Gary and think that is what TN was looking for when they added crossbows to the archery seasons here. For some reason it seems to me they are really trying to put a big dent in the deer population here, which some areas probably need it while others not so much. As for the comments about two different types of hunters made by rossman, once again I find myself disagreeing with him. I bowhunt, muzzleloader hunt and rifle hunt, and even though it is now legal here, I have no desire personally to put down my compound for a crossbow. As for the smoking and drinking remarks, sure there are plenty around who do partake in that type of thing, but got news for you buddy, there are also some of those same guys that are involved in that type of activity who also primarily bowhunt. people are different. That comment really sounds like a comment a anti or peta member would make. I do rifle hunt, but I dont smoke, never have. Very rarely ever drink, and would never drink before firing any weapon. Think the picture being portrayed here falls into what the anti and misinformed folks try to stereotype all hunters as being, which is a real shame. Hunters being predjudiced against other hunters will possibly lead way to us eventually losing what we all love.
Guest Mcmullin
Re: Crossbows...yeah or nay I'm with gator, I think if crossbows can bring in more hunters that is a very good thing. Ya"ll now that we are outnumbered by the ANTI'S. We should welcome all new hunters know matter what equipment they use. (This does not include the WHA )
rossman
Re: Crossbows...yeah or nay Wow, you guys have to relax. I never said any of you are slobs and are idiots just because you are gun hunters and I never said all gun hunters are idiots!!!! I know alot of gun hunters that are ethical, and have the maximum respect for deer. Durting gun season, I have seen guys shoot at running deer 250 yards away with a shotgun. To me, a hunter that does this is an idiot because there is no way that shot is makeable, if one hits the deer at this range with a shotgun, the deer will be wounded. I've seen gunhunters wound deer and track for ten minutes then give up. Do you guys understand what I mean? Every bowhunter I know, if he wounds a deer, tracks that deer until his legs are cramped up and can't walk anymore. I never made a generalizatiopn about gunhunters, but I am sure you guys have seen this during gun season. Now, give these same guys a crossbow during bowseason. the same type of crap will happen. And my point is, I like my bowseason and don't want any of this crap happening while I'm trying to hunt my unpressured deer with my bow!!!! Geez, you guys really need to chill. You get way to defensive in here. Do you guys undertand now? If your disabled, I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to hunt with a crossbow. But if yuo are capable of pulling back a bow, then you should have to hunt with a bow. OJR, I go out west every year with my bow to hunt fo rwo weeks, so I think I know what hunting is like, especially out west!!!! --rossman
LifeNRA
Re: Crossbows...yeah or nay [ QUOTE ] Geez, you guys really need to chill. You get way to defensive in here. [/ QUOTE ] Only because we know your stance on crossbows! LOL!!! [ QUOTE ] If your disabled, I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to hunt with a crossbow. But if yuo are capable of pulling back a bow, then you should have to hunt with a bow. [/ QUOTE ] Whatever the state allows you too! Thats what I agree with! If they allow crossbows for everbody during the normal archery season, fine! Ill still use my compound! Sooner or later it will come to this, in PA for sure! If it does, no big deal to me! BTW! bowhunter61, welcome to the forums!!! Do a search on crossbows in here! You will find that it has been coved many times!
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Crossbows...yeah or nay Whatever is legal is fine with me. I'll be using a PSE Triton during bow season, but if Texas decided to OK the use of crossbows for all hunters, rather than just for those with upper limb disabilities, I might just go out and buy one to hunt with. I always enjoy using something different! Heck, if slingshots were legal, I'd probably try that!!
rossman
Re: Crossbows...yeah or nay I have one more thing to add!!!! If I ended up offending anyone, I'm sorry. That was definatually not my intention. I know some of the things I say can be taken as offensive. It's nothing personal. I have just as much respect for a hunter who hunts with a gun, muzzleloader, bow and even cross-bow. I just prefer my bow, so don't take it personal. I've seen some pretty disgusting things during gun season, especially on public land. I'm sure the same does happen during archery, but have yet to see it personally. Ultimately, were all on the same side, but we still have our preferences, agreements and disagreements. Just because we disagree and have different preferences, does not mean any one of us sounds like an "anti". Again, sorry if I offended anyone, I have the same respect for you, no matter what weapon you use, because we are all here for the same reason, to be in the woods, hunting!!!! later--rossman
