Re: most cost effective scope

I've got a Simmons 8pt on my ML. I stole it off my 30-30 that I put a red dot on. It doesn't have great glass, but I've had it for 10 years and havn't had any problems with it.

If I wanted a cheap, solid scope, I would get a red dot unless your going to be shooting beyond 100 yards.

Re: most cost effective scope

Go look at the Redhead scopes at Bass Pro. They are suppose to be made by Bushnell. They are good scopes for the price. They are far more clear then Tasco or any of the other lower end scopes.

My ex boss said the only I have on my varmint rig is as clear or more so then most of the scopes he spends a MINT on.

Re: most cost effective scope

I have a simmons ATEC on my .270 that I could try out, but all the bolts holding the scope down are all lock tighted with the heavy duty red stuff. So I kinda want to just leave it on there, maybe I will just get another ATEC cause its a pretty dlear pic coming out of that thing. But the Busnell elite has caught my eye as well.

I've got the Simmons Aetec on my 7mm and on my muzzleloader. I've had it on my ML for 2 years and I love it (2.8-10X50mm). I researched when I bought it. It seemed the most scope for the best amount of money. I was so pleased with the one on my 7mm that I went out and bought one for my ML the next year. Good luck, Greg

Re: most cost effective scope

Well I went and picked up a scope today, I ended up getting a bushnell shotgun scope, with the circle x in real tree camo to match my rifle. It not a super high dollar one, but it says shock proof, so we will see if it lives up to it. I figure if its designed to handle a shotgun recoil then its plenty good for a ML. Plus the scope is designed to be fast pointing and setup for the same ranges I will be hunting in. I put the Z2 alloy scope base and ring on it cause they are suppose to be really strong compared to normal alum rigs. I pulled out the breech plug and stuffed a lazer pointer into the back end of the barrel, and bore sighted it from there. With a little luck I will get to the range this weekend and see if I will be happy with it or not.

Re: most cost effective scope

Those are some sweet prices. I'm kinda ticked off at myself. I already picked up a scope and it was the bushnell shotgun banner series in camo with the circle-X. I went to a local gun show yesterday, and on one of the booths there was a bushnell Elite 3200 3-9 40mm, new for $100.00. That was a seriously great price, but could not justifiy picking it up cause of just buying one. Oh well live and learn......
