livnreklis
I have read up on this red dot sight with 2x mag sounds perfect for muzzle loaders. Anyone used this product and have any comments? http://www.truglo.com/content/prod_s.../reddot_x2.asp

RangerClay
Re: Red dot sight Here is the buck I got this past season with my Propoint II. If you look closely you can see it on the top of my Remington 1100. It's an older model red dot scope but it continues to kill many bucks. I see that TrueGlow has some really nice models out there right now but this will be my next upgrade, AIMPOINT
BrotherBadger
Re: Red dot sight My dad has this on his 35 REM. He loves it. I used it once, and highly recommend it.
livnreklis
Re: Red dot sight Have you attempted targets out to 100yds with a reddot sight? Just wondering how it felt for you. I have used the Aimpoints on my M-203 when I was deployed (Iraq) but the mounts we were given were the ones that the aimpoint was extended out to the top of the foregrip, so it just felt to far away and bugged my eyes out, so I took it off. But I am willing to give it another shot, and the truglo 2x30 looks alot like the Aimpoint.
too_pointer
Re: Red dot sight Ranger, which Aimpoint are you going to buy , the Comp ML2, or the Comp M2 ? I would of thought the dot would cover up the target at longer ranges, that is why I have held off in buying one for my larger rifles. I had no idea they were that much $$$, they should be good LOL. too_
johnf
Re: Red dot sight You don't have to spend and arm and a leg for a red dot too. I got mine for $30 at wal-mart. The dot is 5moa which obviously is not great at 100 yards, but I still get about a 4" group at that range with my 30-30. Just to give you an idea, the gun shot about 2" with a 3x9 on it. With the dot being so big it's a little harder to get those results. The red dot on my 30-30 is a BSA and I plan on using it in deep brush with <50 yard shots. They are great for that kind of shooting and quick second shots. The 2moa dot would be great, but I just can't see spending that much for it. You can get this 2.5 moa red dot for around $85. I missed an opportunity to shoot a big 9 point one year because of low light and no magnification. However my red dot is awesome for shotgun slug hunting. I haven't decided which aimpoint I am going to buy. Probably the 9000L They are more more expensive but the Aimpoints do not have parralax (sp) like the others do and they have 500% more battery life than the standard red dot. here is a better link. Link Here is a better pic of my red dot scope

browtine2
Re: Red dot sight First of all, I really like the red dot sights. I bought a 2x dot sight last year but still had the problem of things look'in smaller through the sight at distances over 50 yards. This year I bought a 3x9 50mm scope that has a tiny little red dot. I haven't shot it yet but I think it's gonna be perfect. You can use with or without turn'in the dot on. It's a BSA and available at Sportsman's Guide. I really like one on the shot gun. Always use scopes for longer ranged guns...
