Griz Posted December 3, 2004 Report Share Posted December 3, 2004 This morning as I was out driving through the cows I saw serval buzzards in one of the fields. So I'm thinking that we had a dead cow.... When I got to the area where the buzzards where I see something much worst.... Some scum bag shot and killed 2 bucks. They cut the horns off and left them there to rot.... Well needless to say I came unglued... I came to the house and got on the phone and called our local game warden.... After making several calls I finally got ahold of him. He asked where the 2 deer were and I told him and his reply was. Well there's nothing I can do about it... I told him well if there isn't anything you can do about it. Then I will! I'll going to go over his head. This guy is nothing but dead weight here. All he is doing is waiting for his retirement to come around. I have had other dealings with this game warden and he will not do anything.... I don't even know why he is even a game warden if he isn't going to do his job.... All I can do now is sit back and wait for some one to call me back..... Man this ticks me off royally... Why would anybody do stuff like this.... I guess I will never know or understand I can say one thing. They are real lucky I didn't see them do this.... Sorry for venting folks.... See last year on the other side of the ranch I found 8 different deer that were shot and dumped in a creek and now this.... 3 of those 8 deer were bucks. Someone had took the time and caped the deer out and dumped them in the creek..... It's a sad deal I know and it highly ticks me off that these so called hunters will do something like this.... You need to have that wardens rear sitting on your place all the time. I know he doesn't want to so make it a point to mention that the next time you talk to his boss. In the game wardens defense, I will say that game wardens here can only work so many hours per week. It doesn't matter what or how big of a deal it is, once they've put in their hours, they're done. It would not do much good to come investigate some dead deer without knowing who did it, and he'd be wasting time on the clock. He would have to "catch them in the act" so to speak. That's too bad someone would do something like this, but it happens everywhere. Hopefully you can get something done so that you'll be able to catch the scumbags. I have spent countless hours with the law this afternoon. I took them over to the place where the 2 bucks were at. They took several pictures and did some looking around. They told me that there is alot of this going on. Like I didn't already know that... They said that all they can do at this time is to watch the place. They said that there has been 2 helicopters flying around at night with sheriff support ground units trying to catch spot lighters. They said that they have caught a few so far. I told them I sure hope they catch these idiots.... One of the bucks that I saw looked to be a mature buck. From looking at his face and teeth. I would bet he was an 5 or 6 year old. The other one looked to be about 3 to 3 1/2 years old. Judging by his teeth.... Well I sure hope these so called "Hunters" are proud of thereself's. I will say this. Who ever they are. Unless you provide "all" the info or proof on the guy who did it they do not even go and look at the deer. Sucks! It burns me up that there are guys who do this crap and more so because they know our game warden will not do a thing unless they are caught red handed... In VT's case we have just to few game wardens and to many guys breaking the laws at any given time. But still, at least make an effort to curb the activity...
