This will be my first year bow hunting after 14 years of rifle and shotgun hunting. I have easton acc carbon arrows for my Mathews but a friend told me to shoot alum. arrows. He said that when you kill one with carbon arrows you have to cut the meat out around where the arrow goes through the deer because of contamination. Is there any truth in this? Anyway just wanted some facts and opinions on this.

Re: Aluminum or Carbon?

though i have never killed a deer with my bow...i do belive that when you shoot with carbons, you do not need to "cut around" the part the arrow goes through UNLESS the arrow breaks......even then (again, i am not positive) i think if you just clean it good you will be ok...but thats just my opinion, someone who has more experience might be able to tell you

Never heard of such a thing. I mean...I have Never heard anybody...Ever say that! Must be an "urban legend" someone is trying to start up.Carbon arrows are generally thinner...and fly faster. A little more penetration at greater distances.

Re: Aluminum or Carbon?

I shoot both. Out of the ones i shoot the carbon is faster but you can tell the aluminum hits a lot harder. I guess it just depends on what you like. But i have never heard anything about the carbon arrows either and like some others said if it was true i would be dead.

Re: Aluminum or Carbon?

carbons for me for a long time.. i shot alums also and they shot well. i just prefer carbons now.

plus i dont eat blood shot meat. YUCK... why in gods name would you eat meat where you shot through it? confused.gif

plus if you deer is poked through the ribs, why you would even think of cutting out the rib meat and eating where your arrow shot ? tongue.gif

Shoot Strong
