Bears and Bow Hunters?

Should we really be worried about bears in our area if we know they are there? One of my fears has always been walking to my stand in the early hours when it is still dark and having a bear just come out and attack for some reason. I know it sounds kinda dumb, but it just gets to my head sometimes. What does everyone think about this? Yes there are black bears in my area I know that for sure.

Re: Bears and Bow Hunters?

im waiting for Buckee to answer this one! grin.gif hes has experienced just what you are talking about.. ooo.gif

i had a friend leave his vest in a tree while bear hunting in Canada. he came out at noon to have lunch and the bear had lunch on his vest! grin.gif it seems Chris had 2 snickers bars in there and the bear found them!

yep i wouldnt worry much, unless you have candy bars on you or some sort of sweet cover scent.

Re: Bears and Bow Hunters?

i think the scaredest i was is when i was hunting in va, it was pitch black outside and i was walking up the mountian i could smell the bear but couldnt see it, i kept going that evening my hunting bubby asked if i had seen it, i told him no, we walked back up the mountian to where i had walked not but just a few feet off the trail i was walking there was a pile of scat that was bigger than my hat, after that it was like snake hunting i had to look at every thing as i went along.
