Big Job for Small Equipment:

Have you ever had a job that you thought was just too big for the equipment you own?

I have this little 317 John Deer that I bought new in 1981.

It stays in the Shop until I’m ready to use it. I’ve never let it sit outside in the weather.

It has served me well.

This firing lane was cut last year but sure looks thick.

It’s a long ways down to the end of the lane.

Here is where I’m thinking I need a bush hog. (That’s two years growth on that firing lane.)

That sumac and blackberry briars cut through like butter, but the small sweet gum trees are kinda’ tough.

This is an overhead view of the property. Most of the trails were cut when this photo was taken but had grown back over.

It took a little over 6 hours, 5 chigger bites, numerous briar scratches, and about 6 gallons of gas, four bottles of water, two towels, and…

“Boy howdy!!!”, my blades need a good working over now…

I still wish I had a tractor and bush hog.
