Right now my truck has a strap to hold it on, but I've driven plenty of vehicles without them, and never drove away. I have however, in my first ever job at a warehouse, drive away from the pump after filling a delivery truck with diesel, and pull the handle off the hose, luckily the pump was done running so no diesel was spraying out, but the nozzle was still in the tank.
