10acboy Posted October 7, 2006 Report Share Posted October 7, 2006 Well today was opening day of bow season with terrible conditions - high winds and pouring rain. I told my son that I wasn't going bow hunting and if he felt like it we could try to go squirrel hunting. He was so excited. He came in my room at 6 and woke me up this morning and I could hear the rain outside. He asked me if we were going and feeling guilty because I am always so busy I told him if he wanted to we could go. A second later he said that I better get up then. We go out to the farm and get in the woods and about 15 minutes later I spot a squirrel. He asked me if I wanted him to shoot it and I said no we are just here to get wet. He thought that I was serious. I told him to fire away. He did a great job. He ended up killing two plus we had 3 does about 30 yards from us and one came within 25 yards. I couldn't believe how excited he was. I tell you what - this little hunt made my year and that's no joke. Just to see how excited he was was when he shot those squirrels was worth the whole trip.
