Hillbilly Posted October 12, 2006 Report Share Posted October 12, 2006 Last night before it got to dark a doe and her two fawns came out of the woods and fed on the bank in front of our house. The doe had a bad limp, wasn't putting any pressure on it at all. I don't think she'll make it and try and feed her fawns to. I took a buck a few years back that had all 4 feet missing. He was running on stumps and ran like mad. The stumps were all healed over so I knew it wasn't fresh injuries. I have also taken deer with 3 legs, 4th had been broken off just below the knee, and was totally healed. The fawns should do just fine on their own at this point anyhow. Deer like that around here "USUALLY" do not make it because of the snow or coyotes, but it all depends how serious the injury is. If that ws my property I would take that deer if I had a chance to. Had no idea of it untill he went to field dress her. Deer can survive incredible things, just look at how fast their blood begins to clot.
