sasksheds Posted October 13, 2006 Report Share Posted October 13, 2006 I wanted to wait to post this for a day or two.I wanted to take the time for everything to sink in & actually believe that it had happened. My brother & I have been after anyone of 3 big muledeer bucks over the last 3 years with are bows.We could never get a good shot within range.This year I was lucky enough to get drawn in this zone for muledeer.So I could use my muzzleloader.I went out the other night to one of my honey holes to see if I could see anything moving.As I got close to my little hill I could see 2 muley bucks already feeding out.I quietly got onto my hill & into the buckbrush.It didnt take long until I looked to the left & saw what seemed to be an old bail in the grass about 350 yards out.I knew better.I lifted my scope up & watched.It was a big bodied muley buck.As he lifted his head my heart skipped & started to race.It was one of the bigger of the 3 muley bucks that we had seen.He was on a collision course into my kill zone.It seemed like forever but he closed to within 200-220 yards.Still to far.My legs were killing me from kneeling on them.I had to readjust.I took my eyes off of him for 2 seconds.When I looked back he was GONE! I wanted to slash my throat for being so stupid.I watched through my scope looking for antler movement in the tall alfalfa.Nothing.I figured he must have layed down like they have done in the past.I was sick @ the thought of screwing up my chance.He only had 2 ways out through little draws to my left & right.Finally I caught movement to my left.There he was broadside walking away through the dip to my left.He stopped out about 170-180 yards & quarterd towards me.I refused to take anything but a good clean broadside shot.I took this time to bring down the gun off of my sturdy sticks,relax & breath.As I put the gun back up on my sturdy sticks he turned broadside & walked closer to about 150 yards.I drew the perfect beed & sqeezed the trigger.BOOM,WHOP! I knew I had a good hit.He ran 60 yards & dropped dead.I reloaded,gathered my belt bag,etc... & ran over to the ridge & looked over to see antlers rising above the alfalfa.I said my thax & called my dad to come in & pick me up.
