Hillbilly
A week ago I seen a doe with a bad limp, about an hour ago I seen a good 8 pt limping to. Now this might be the same small 6 last year that was limping, I don't know tho. Anyways! Im curious on what might cause all the limping deer? I don't hunt to much at my parents place. Guest Danbo
Re: wow something strange going on in my woods. The local landowner found a dead doe last summer and called the DEC - worried that it was CWD. They determined that the Doe ran headlong into a tree and died of brain damage!! This is strange, but I suppose running throught the woods at top speed could be dangerous.
lil hunter
Re: wow something strange going on in my woods. I saw a doe today that was also limping a little. It wasn't an extremely bad limp, but it was definetly noticable. Not sure what was wrong with her, maybe it's just an Indiana thing? lol

Washi
Re: wow something strange going on in my woods. Maybe they hurt themselves crossing fences. We just found a doe today that got her leg stuck in the fence when she was jumping it and died.
Guest BDSoutdoors
Re: wow something strange going on in my woods. that small 6 that was limping the year before if you seen him this year could you tell if one side of his antlers were growing crooked. if so that could have been the same deer because usually injurys to legs during antler growth will cause them to grown diffrently than the other side
mike
Re: wow something strange going on in my woods. i know with livestock you can get cases of hoof rot that will make them limp, mostly with wet conditions. has it been real wet around your neck of the woods for awhile? from what i am told there is a bacterea in the soil that causes this and its held in wet soil. just a thought i don't know
Guest Zemmer18
Re: wow something strange going on in my woods. I just took a doe with a limp this past Saturday in NY. (Pic is in BOwhunting section under Southern Zone NY doe) Upon further investigation she had a mass the size of a tennis ball just above her right front hoof. It happened to spilt her hoof at a funny angle and hence her stutter step or limp. Plus the mass had sores on it. She must've stepped into a hole or got caught on something to have it get that bad. SO it's not just the Indiana woods unless they ran here to NY!!
