AvonLKHunter
I was wondering if first year does go into heat this rut? I have been seeing alot of them on my property. All of my does have twins or trips running around with them. It will be a good rut if all these does will be attracting bucks. TNX
VTbowman
Re: DO FIRST YEAR DOES GO INTO HEAT??? They may during the 2nd rut depending on how old they really are. Fawns normally do not as far as I know. Yearlings can.
Leo
Re: DO FIRST YEAR DOES GO INTO HEAT??? Sometimes they do. If you have a high doe to buck ratio that often means quite a few late born fawns. The late born does often do not come into estrus. But a first drop doe can breed before she is one year old. A high doe to buck ratio, also means more button heads. The more button heads you have the more out of whack the doe to buck ratio is. nutz4bucks
Re: DO FIRST YEAR DOES GO INTO HEAT??? most of the time that's not good. the does push the fawns away to get ready to breed. good hunting

SuperMn106
Re: DO FIRST YEAR DOES GO INTO HEAT??? I have heard somewhere but i can not remember where that it depends on the weight of the animal. I am not sure if this is correct or not but i thought it was when they reach 80 or 85 lbs that they can start going in to heat or something. Rhino
Re: DO FIRST YEAR DOES GO INTO HEAT??? Yes some do for sure here but it's the 2nd estrus period before any come into heat. I've seen bucks chasing what I call fawn does a month after our rut peaks and we generally kill 1 1/2 year old wet does on our club every year. Nick
Re: DO FIRST YEAR DOES GO INTO HEAT??? Yeah, The second rut usually. Here in Michigan, that usually happens around the first week of December. I was out muzzle loading last season on December 3rd...which was 3 days after a 2 week gun season. I had a yearling doe come in panting hard and right on her tail was a buck panting just as hard. He must have been chasing her all night long. I dropped him at 20 yards and ended up being an 8 point and my largest scoring deer ever.
