Hoosierbuck
Re: Knife I really like knives...have a whole drawer full of them. Mostly nice, name brand knives, and for simple field dressing I always end up going with my Buck Pathfinder (5" narrow blade for coring the anus, and heavy duty enough for the later butchering chores) coupled with one of the inexpensive Gerber guthook knives that uses utility knife blades. Unbeatable combo in my book. The only thing that could make it better is if my Pathfinder had a non-slip grip...but wait, I can just dip it in tool handle rubber, can't I? coles
Re: Knife i have 3 buck knives. one is a fixed blade and the other is a folding. my girlfriend gave me the folding knive and i love it.i love all of them but the folding one is my favorite. i gutted 2 deer and the blade is still like a razor. the fixed blade is also awesome. i have gutted 3 elk and 5 deer with is and have only had to sharpen it a couple times. Ravin R10 man
Re: Knife I chose a knife that will allow my pointer finger to be extended while holding the knife, and the tip of the blade is no longer than my extended finger. That way when Im gutting, I have full control of where the blade is, and I never get cut.

Widowmaker
Re: Knife I have a buck zipper fixed blade knife with the gut hook. Mine is the one with the rubber handle...very easy to handle and take care of and a good grip. I sharpen my gut hook with one of my crox sticks...works great and will not roll the edge of the steel like a file. I love my buck zipper!
