mule659
I have a question for everyone. I hung a stand in a good looking wooded draw between two fields the other day. I was excited to be moving into this new spot but on my way into the stand I spooked 2 bucks and 4 does out from under my stand. They went about 30 yards then stopeed and looked at me for what seemed like forever before stomping at me then let out a snort and ran over the hill. What should I do? Pinwheel5
Re: should I back off? Sounds like a good stand for the rut. I have several stands like that, no good until deer start cruising. Bad thing about these stands is when you bust your resident deer they will shy away but during the chase and seeking phase you may see a deer at 9am that was 2 miles away at 6. Wait a week or so and go back when you start seeing bucks cruising.
Bownarow
Re: should I back off? Let the stand rest for at least 5 days if you spooked out any good bucks in that group. If the deer you spooked out were just does and small bucks, I wouldn't be to concerned. Maybe try entering that stand a little earlier or take a different route to the stand in an effort to avoid bumping any more deer.
mule659
Re: should I back off? Yeah the one buck was looked to be about a 130 class so I think I'll let it sit a few days. Thanks a lot for the advice.

Only thing to be concerned with is if the big buck comes around and the deer you spooked are there too and they peg you.
