Weird...prayer request

I'm 29 years old and about to get a step-father...and some step-siblings as well.

My dad died in 2001, after 29 years and three children with my mom.

My mom met a guy that makes her happy and after being together about four years, they've decided to marry. They've opted to go to a justice of the peace in Illinois and skip a church ceremony. Given their circumstances, I understand.

It's just weird to me--the whole thing. I don't know why--she's been with this guy for four years and they definitely do care about one another. I do not have a problem with them getting married--it's just so strange to me and I don't know why.

Anyway, please pray for them that they have a long, happy life together and pray for understanding and acceptance by our families.

Re: Weird...prayer request

Prayers sent out to your family. I went through something similar, but it was with my grandmother over two years ago. She owns a tourist resort, a couple that came up in August for a week were close friends. The woman died of breast cancer and Bill would come up for a few weeks at a time even during the offseason to get away from it all back home in Ohio. This went on for a couple years, then weeks turned into months, and before we knew it, it was 6 months at a time. Next thing we know, after about 3 years, I went up on Valentines day and gran showed me her left hand. He had proposed to her. He moved from Ohio up here to Canada and runs the resort with my grandma, the resort he used to come up to for vacation. They got married in April of 2004. It was a bit odd at first, but it only took so long of seeing my grandma as happy as we've ever saw her.

Prayers sent...

Do know that the feelings you and your family are having are completely normal. I would look for mom to be both happy and sad on wedding day. On one hand, a new life with someone she loves. On the other hand, missing and feeling somewhat guilty about moving on.

Just make sure that guy treats her right. If not, you have some Reatree Militia Members who can come straighten him out! wink.gif
