I was walking to my stand...

I heard a deer charging through the woods in my direction...

In an instant he busts through the brush!!!

The GHOST I have hunted him for 4 years!!! The biggest racked NONTYPICAL I have ever seen in person...

Split second to make the shot, gun comes up, site on him... BA-BOOM!!!

It felt good, 15 yds with a sabot slug, listen for the crash, go find the blood trail, ears ringing, heart pounding out of my chest...

OMG...ROTFLMBO....only because it's way too familiar to me crazy.giftongue.gif

Similar thing happened to me while hunting in Florida.

I was young and using my fathers double barrell 12ga. Heard the deer coming...missed the first two shots...broke the gun open and it was only when the deer turned TOWARDS ME shocked.gif that I found out that little bit of extra pressure to get the gun completely open would have helped alot tongue.gif

Huge Buck for Florida @25 feet Broadside and me Fanning those Empty shells trying to get them out while wearing a Mitten!

I like the suggestion to cut that tree down all the way and at least Mount it...what a conversation piece wink.gif

BTW...I took that Mitten of mine and burned it after soaking it with lighter fluid grin.gif

Man but you hit that tree dead center! I had a clean miss on a very nice buck a few years back. We were hunting in CRP (tall grass - about chest high). I was walking the fenceline in about 2 feet of snow. I saw my brother kick up the buck and he was headed right at me. I got all set to make the shot - the buck was on a line to come out less than 10 yards in front of me. So I got all set to make the shot - when the buck got to the edge of the CRP, instead of continuing on he made a 90 degree turn to his left, my right. With my feet firmly planted in the snow I wasn't able to make a very graceful turn against my body and somehow BLEW a 10 yard shot. Don't brag about this one much. Doesn't happen to me often, but it does happen. Better luck next time!!

I've got a 3' limb hangin on my trophy wall. It is 2" in diameter and has a 125 grain muzzy broadhead and my arrow stuck right through the middle of it. On the other side of that "stick" was the largest racked whitetail I've had an encounter with while bowhunting - so I cut down the limb and hung it next to my other mounts. Besides, the taxidermy bill was MUCH cheaper!
