If you don't like religion or religious posts, hit the back button, right....NOW. I have been praying since my kids were each minus 9 months old that they would come to know the Lord at a young age. I started praying as soon as we found out they were on the way and it would raise eyebrows if I forgot it in a prayer (usually because of some other pressing issues). Well, my son has been asking about God, etc. but he was just too young IMHO to understand enough of what was involved. That was until last Wednesday, the day before his 8th birthday. He came to me feeling pretty crummy about saying "Oh my God" and that he heard it a lot at school and said it a few times himself. He was under some real conviction and afraid he had blown his chance to go to heaven. He wanted to know if saying that would send him to hadees. Well, I explained things to him and that only rejecting Christ would send him to hadees. He told me that he wanted to accept God so he could go to heaven. I took the bible and I led him down the "roman road" and then took him to my favorite part of the bible, the repentant thief. I explained sin, Jesus, and death burial and resurrection to him and belief on faith. He seemed to understand it well and he prayed with me to be saved. Within a minute or two he asked...all on his own...if he could now be Baptised. I know a lot of people don't believe in salvation at age 8 but I believe he got the real thing. He is getting baptised next Sunday morning. I am about to jump out of my skin I am so happy and relieved. I just had to tell someone. I am in no hurry to die but there are a few things that I had to accomplish before dying and seeing my children saved and knowing they will see me again is first and foremost on my list. Christ understood the mind of a child. I think we put to much complication on Salvation. Its a very easy process but we always have to ask ourselves "why, how, what if?" I firmly believe that children of his age and possibly younger and fully understand the plan of salvation. After all, if you just believe. They believe in Santa with all their being. Im sure that believing in a God who roots his very presence in all of our souls isn't that far of a stretch...... God bless and congratulations! I had the pleasure of witnessing BOTH my sons accept Christ back in September and getting baptised together. It's truly a wonderful feeling............
