Finally! Well it has been a long dry year for me, but today made up for all that! This morning we were running late and I looked over at Richard and I quote my words,"We should have stayed in bed as late as we are we won't see nothing." Yeah I been eating every since!

Anyway I settle in to my stand and soon a doe strolls in. Richard sends me a text message soon that he is looking at 2 does. A few minutes later I watch one feed along the ajoining ridge. As she feeds off into the distance I see another doe come in and feed about 50 yards infront of me. She moves off over the hill and I let Richard know she is headed his way. Between the two of us seeing this many does I was sure this time of year a buck would turn up. Richard asks me around 9 what time we have to get down to make it to Thanksgiving dinner. I reach in my pocket and get out my radio to reply when I see a buck hurrying down the last does trail. I drop my radio back in my pocket, shoulder my rifle, and grunt to stop him. Doesn't even phase him, so I find him in my scope and follow him for a second and just as I squeeze the trigger I see a limb. Dang it! :angry: Well I jerk my bolt about half way back and shove it forward and my shell is hung half way between, aparently you are suppose to pull the bolt all the way back before you push it back forward. :rolleyes: Anyway I jiggle it and it won't go. The buck is starting to take back off, so I take my thumb and get the gun to take the shell. Pull up find a good opening this time and when his head comes in it, BOOM! Connection! He falls in his tracks. I was so excited I was yelling on the radio and Richard was like slow down honey, don't get down till I get there. He knew I wanted to run straight over there and pick him up so he made me wait however long it took him to get there to make sure the buck was down. This is my best buck to date. I knew I had been letting the little ones walk for a reason.

ain't it sweet when a plan comes together. you know god put him right there for you take. it was just you got too excited and he had to make sure you made the next shot true lol

good job and he is one pretty buck. you and my god daughter should be on the front page. she took her first deer ever this year a nice 120 plus inch deer she was as excited as you were only problem was we were in a blind and she and my wife both took off in the first couple of minutes after shooting him. i sent them on a long walk to allow the deer to die. your husband did the right thing making you wait so he too could come and enjoy your success with you
