never had this one....advice please.

So, I brought my bow out here to arizona with me because its easy to find somewhere to shoot and the bow seasons out here are much easier to get a tag for. I have been storing the bow in my closet with some other outdoor gear. I went to colorado last weekend to go snowboarding (think sharp edges) and i had to pull and dig my board from the closet the bow was in. When i got back on tuesday i looked in the closet and realized that the string was almost cut all the way through. The string has streched so far that the bow is stuck in the closet, but there is still string holding tight. So my question is what do I do??? I have never had the string off this bow and know its very old school. I doubt I'll even be able to find a string for it, but more important how do i get the tension off the limbs and string to get it out of the closet in one piece and without the bow or me getting the crap kicked out of us. Even if I cant fix it the bow has killed enough deer that it deserves a spot on the wall for the rest of life, BUT if i could find a string for it, id love to do that as well.

Thanks in advance gents. smirk.gif

wow, must be a smal closet,YOU can get a string, Kinsey's in pa. has everything, or they canget it, Portable bow press could allow you to take the tension, otherwise, wrap it, the ends real well, and cut the string, protect the cams or wheels.don't know how else to do it, if you can't get it out not many options left.

Re: never had this one....advice please.

im not going to say this is safe or the best way to do it.but i seen i man do this . he stored his bow in a small cubby hole under the stair well. had almost some thing happpen . it was an old solid limb bow so he took a ratchet strap and put the hocks under cams in the in the notch in limbs.he tightened up the straps enough to take tension of limbs to get the bow out.now i dont advise this for safty reasons but i have seeh it done that way.
