ladydiehard
I took a big doe this last Saturday with my muzzleloader and when I dressed her out (yes I do my own) she was loaded with globs of FAT! My knife was so gunked up I had to heat some water on wood stove to clean it up in case I needed it for another. This doe is one of the biggest I've ever taken. Pics are on a regular cam owned by my cousin so I'll have to wait on developing. They say alot of fat means we are in for a hard winter...so we'll see. The ole TC Black Diamond struck again! I just love my Black Diamond!

c_lou
Re: FAT FAT FAT! My brother in law shot a doe during gun season. When we were cutting her up, she had almost an inch of fat all the way around her back and sides.

OJR
Re: FAT FAT FAT! Congratulations on the doe! I have encountered the same thing this year and so have a lot of people that have shot both deer and elk! There was a lot of fat on all of them! We will have to see how the winter turns out, but we should be aware of this situation!

woodshed
Re: FAT FAT FAT! I got a doe tonight and the same thing. The fat layer below the sking was and inch thick at least. Inside her stomach was bags of fat. She is a big doe and will fill the empty corner in my freezer perfectly!! WAgoooo,
