I don't watch this stupid show and now I have another reason not to........... "The Dixie Chicks' five nominations were a triumph for a group who weathered boycotts from the country music establishment and a drop in album sales after lead singer Natalie Maines' criticized President Bush in 2003. "Taking the Long Way," which found the trio leaning more toward rock, was still ignored by country music radio. But the defiant album still was a best-seller, and was nominated for country album of the year among its other nominations." Give me a break. I read an interview from them in one of my magazines at home,and this Natalie chick is a huge you know what,and completely full of herself. I just can't stand them! They gave the finger to the Country music fans multiple times and one of the songs on the album basically does it again. Love their music but won't buy any more. Nothign I hate more is traiters and draft dodgers! All these shows are just a way to get people talkign, puttign the chicks up for all these award is just a publicity stunt to get the show out there, I really think it will hurt there viewing audience this year though, there is still alot of hatred all over for there big mouths!! I to wish all the so called heros of our kids would just shut up, believe what you want but don't try to brainwash our kids,that is not there job, its mine lol!! lets keep this post nice please I know there is different opinions post them but be nice likeI have been lol!! While I think it is laughable for some celebrities to get so involved in politics/social issues, there are some who do some good. Through 3 years of me being on here and spending a lot of time in the political forum at the beginning of my joining this forum, I have come to see some things change over time. 1) There is a lot more criticism of Bush on here than there was when I first joined. There is not as much support for him and the war as when I first joined. 2) The only time members criticise celebrities for making political statements is when those views contradict the majority conservative views held by most on these forums. There are celebrities out there who are conservative and make statements supporting conservative ideologies, and apparently that is OK. If you criticize a celebrity for making a political statement/stand simply because they are a celebrity, then the criticism needs to be all encompassing. But there is a double standard on here, always has been. As long as a celebrity is knowledgable about the subject, and is educated, I have no problem them expressing their political views, the only differene between us and them is that by virtue of their profession, their comments are generally made known their various media outlets, and ours are limited to this forum. Just because someone is a celebrity doesn't mean they are idiots, or unknowledgable, in fact, there are some celebrities who are actually quite intelligent, and who could actually do quite well for themselves in the private sector, but heck, if someone wanted to pay me millions to make movies for a living, I'd do it in a heartbeat, talk about a cake job. The dixie chicks never said they dont support the country. They just didnt support the President for his reasons for going to war.
